Are Mac users more self-centered and needy than Windows users?

Are Mac users more self-centered and needy than Windows users?
"Are you self-centered, arrogant or conceited? Do you have a strong need for recognition? You must have a Mac, according to new research."

The above video says people with an open personality (eh?) are 60 percent more likely to own a Mac.

More factoids: Mac users generally consider themselves superior to PC users. They are more likely to use teeth whitening products, buy organic food, purchase more shoes (an average of five pairs last year), frequent Starbucks and drive a hybrid car.

They also pay for music they find on the internet (50 percent versus 16 percent of PC users).

The study was conducted by Mindset Media, which surveyed 7500 Mac and PC users.

"Macs suck. I use mine as an ash tray now. Anyone who uses a mac not only supports terrorism, but is most likely a descendant of Adolph Hitler. Mac users should be ashamed."

Hard to argue with such scintillating and impeccable logic.

Maybe we should start a poll as to whether or PC users have an inferiority complex. Can't think of any other reason to make such a big deal over what computer someone uses.

I love MAC because I am an end user and it is friendlier to us endusers. I have no teeth, so there go the whiteners... I do buy tons of shoes because I am a pisces. I really do not understand why more people don't buy MAC. It is still a lot safer than windows where you sell your soul to bill... and who knows what he puts in their to track every step you take... he's watching you.... oooohhh, scary! Just kidding.

I have been a MAC user for 10 years after struggling with windows for 2 years. I am and egoist (not an egotist) and have a healthy regard for myself. But I am not conceited or arrogant. I don't use teeth whiteners or organic food. I never have had a Starbucks anything and I drive an old Acura. I do not pay for internet music. If I pay, I rather have the CD and I have hundreds of them. See now, if they had included people like me in the survey they might have had different results.

SILLY QUESTION .. it is like asking Is a747 flyer any smarter than another??

Answered Yes. I often see Mac users brag about their computers and use lines directly from Apple's marketing campaign, like "it just works."

    yup, that's me :p

I am a Mac + PC user. Yes I brag about Apple products because I like to be a class apart, above from the average Joe !! It's because I CAN afford and I am tech Savvy. I Like to stand out from the rest in everything I do. It's not just the Mac or the PC. Even my PC laptop bought 4 years back was a concept product. I own a classy car that people are jealous about. Above all its my brain and intellect which causes envy and my humility gets me the respect I get from my peers. This research is shitty. A Mac is like the BMW or Lexus of cars. A PC is a Chevrolet :). Whats the big deal eh ???
  • raves +1   [-] by Mr. X
Right on dude! This research is biased.

How dare you compare Macs as a Lexus?? you mean as compatibility??
  • raves     [-] by Who Cares !!
Hey !! Yeah, take it from me. I have used everything from the 8085 microcontroller to Clusters of Quad Core servers. Have done my Bachelors and then my Masters in Computers. Have been working since half a decade. Pretty tech savvy as I said. And I know what stands out in terms of expectations and quality. I am NOT a skinny nerd mind it. And I am not here to defend the Mac or bash the PC. Instead I gave my personal opinion. A Mac puts me above the average Joe because it's a class apart. You see what I am saying?? Don't u drool and ogle at a sexy car going past your eyes and say to urself.."ooohh I wish I had one if those" !! It's the same feeling for Apple products in general. It doesn't mean anything but a craving for what is different, what's really worth it and the desire to stand out.
It doesn't mean PC's are bad. I DO use a PC at work and at Home. I own them all you see. So I am not a biased judge - I Love Mac but I also use PC's. I hate Windows but I am also proficient in using it. To be frank PC users do seem to be on that side of the line until they have started using a Mac. Once they own one... you really do know what I'm trying to convey
Anyways, don't have more time to waste on stupid crappy research.
Blah... Meh... phew.. I'm outta here.

I also use PC and Mac. I have found PC's more user friendly and Macs are all about command keys. Command this, command that... thank God for the right click.
  • raves     [-] by Who Cares !!
You do have Rt click on a Mac don't you ??
The Problem is that as PC users we have been overwhelmed by Windoze !!
BTW, I love Family Guy. I have all the episodes downloaded on my Macbook (not my PC Laptop which is one of my prized possessions beyond doubt) and love to watch movies using Front Row and the Macbook connected to my Wega 32" and Logtech Z-5500 or my Harman Kardon Sounsticks II.
My third laptop would be a Macbook Pro (waiting for the updated config)
Go find your right click on a Mac meanwhile :-P
To add to it, I am a switcher (PC--> Mac), so is my gf (another one who has seen computers evolve). Anyways I would leave it as you personal judgement. Not forcing opinions.
One good point which I miss on the Mac is the availability of Free Software (Cracks/hacks) which allowed me to ...... :-P
and Mannnnn... do i really miss the spywares now !! (Never got a virus ever - even on a PC, never used an AntiVirus either)

Well now your just being absurd. The things you are talking about are keyboard shortcuts. Windows has them too. They're there if you want to use them, but you don't have to use them.

If you take a little time with them though, you quickly discover that for a lot of actions the keyboard shortcut is faster and easier! (Faster + easier= more productive!) I can't remember the last time I used a mouse to cut, copy, paste, open new window, open new tab, minimize, close window, close tab, bookmark, close application, scroll forward, scroll back, save, or print. I'm sure the same can be said for Windows shortcuts.
  • raves     [-] by Who Cares !!
I agree with you David. Keyboard shortcuts are really handy. Specially when they are so intuitive and you don't need to take your hands off the keyboard. I don't like to switch a lot between the keyboard and the mouse.
Even on Windows I use keyboard shortcuts all the time and no surprise I missed the Win+E(explorer) Win+D(Desktop) right away. But Mac OSX has its own sets of shortcuts. Anyways, I too am a fan of keyboard shortcuts !!
    Cheers !!

BTW you perhaps need to meet some 8 year old kiddo to tell you that a right click on a Mac is just a two finger tap ??!!!!
Go try that on your Pee-Cee !!
and with the muti-touch now appearing the Pee-Cee is eclipsed and more for the "can't afford a Mac" class. Yes I am being rude because I can't tolerate a uninformed moron judging two laptops when he doesn't know much about either one! LOL
    Get a Life Peter !!
and if you need to know how to make better use of your PC, I am here to help. Pretty sure I can use it better than you.
  • raves     [-] by Who Cares !!
    I own a Lexus and a Mac. I don;t think you own either :-)
    ROTFL.

For your information I have Windows XP and go ahead keep your Lexus. I ride a Mercedes-Benz. I thought Mac users ride on Volkswagen?

    Macs totally suck. Period :)

ps... maybe the mouse should have 2 clicks?
  • raves +1   [-] by David
Oddly enough, my iMac mouse DOES have two clicks.

Maybe the computer should have no viruses. Or spyware. Or adware. Or a need to purchase third party software to prevent these.
  • raves     [-] by Peter Griffin
and that would be the CRTL + Click right? ha!
  • raves     [-] by David
Not even close. The Apple Mighty Mouse has right click and left click functionality. Doesn't come set that way by default, have to turn it on in system preferances. And if you don't like the Mighty Mouse, and many don't, you can plug ANY multi button mouse into the comp and go to town.

My iMac is also two years old, is on the net every day, has never had a virus or spyware despite a complete lack of internet prophylactic software, has never been defragged, has never had the OS re-installed, and is still as blazing fast as the day I got it.

The only good thing Macs have is the iPod. I like the iPod but I truly hate iTunes with a passion.

My Mac also has 2 clicks and no viruses! I love my iMac!
  • raves     [-] by Who Cares !!
    Mr. Peter Griffin !!
I use a MS Mouse with my Macbook. And the right click behaves the same way (as the Windows Right Click). Maybe you need to go back to "your" mac and find out more about how to use your Mac. hehehehehehehe (Peter style) :-P
