Kanye West: "Graduation" vs 50 Cent: "Curtis" - Who will win this epic, record-sales showdown on September 11?

I have to stop anyone who claims that 50 is real, always will be real, etc etc. The music industry has gone through many changes and the one constant that seems to not change is that - Skill does not equal sales. It's been seen in the past many times, artists have to conform their lyrical ability and compramise their artistic integrity if they want to be successful in this industry. Which means that the problem isn't 50, or Kanye or any other rapper, the problem is with the consumers. Those consumers who believe the hooplah being spoon fed to the world by these 'entertainers'. I stress the word 'entertainer' because that's all 50 really is, an entertainer pretending to be what you hear on record.

Claims of him being real, are questioned by such titles of his songs like "Fully Loaded Clip" , and "I Still Kill". 50 Cent lives in a mansion with more than 30 rooms I believe,and for him to still be glorifying his past to sell records now is an insult to his career as well as to the public. He has again and again, used the hype of starting beef with other artists to create a buzz, for promotion and to sell more records. It seems that he has been relying on this tactic for his last few albums as each had a battle song directed at another aritst. And it has become unclear whether 50 is even able to sell records without any conflict surrounding the release. Some call this a stroke of marketing genius, but I see it as a desperate ploy from an artist using the drama card to sell records.

Kanye or 50? Neither. Kanye has been too concerned on writing rhymes to feed his ego and make him as big as he thinks he should be. Although, one credit I will give to Kanye is that he, on the other hand, keeps his music fresh and inventive. As oppose to 50's "same shit, different laxative" approach.

Why can't rappers nowadays make music to educate the youth? Music that inspires a generation through positive messages and words of guidance for the many children who have no parents and are literally being raised by today's artists. Sadly, that type of music doesn't sell. Therefore, that type of music will not be as much of a priority as the music that glorifies violence.
