John McCain: A Short Biography

John Sidney McCain III, born on August 29th, 1936, is the Republican Party's choice for president in the 2008 election. A former graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in '58, a Vietnam Vet and a prisoner of war, McCain is a seasoned service man of the government. Married to Cindy McCain, their family has been blessed with four children: the eldest being their daughter Meghan, two sons, John Sidney McCain IV (Jack) and James, and their adopted daughter, Bridget.

There is a lot of controversy about who is better suited to be the next President of the United States, Barack Obama or John McCain, but McCain has much more government experience going for him. After graduating from the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, John McCain became a naval aviator and flew aboard the USS Forrestal, flying A-4 Skyhaws during the Vietnam War. In 1982 John McCain was then elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, served two terms, and then in 1986 was elected to the Senate.

McCain's stay in the Senate ended briefly in 2000 after his first two terms had expired, which marked the beginning of McCain's steps into his presidential campaigns. When McCain decided to drop out of the presidential race, and lend his support to George W. Bush, Mccain later decided to go back to the Senate and was easily re-elected in 2004, marking McCain's 4th term in the Senate.

John McCain is campaigning again in 2008 for the presidential nomination. After years of experience, this Vietnam vet and four time re-elected U.S. Senator is seeking the support from his fellow Americans. John McCain chose the Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, as his running mate in the 2008 election, and hopes to carry the country back to a stable America.

Now the choice is up to the citizens of the United States to decide who will win the presidential election between John McCain and Barack Obama.
