It might be a tie between Magus and Crono. Lucca is awesome too. I wish Schala was a playable character - I am still thoroughly convinced she was intended to be a playable character but that affected the plot in Chrono Cross.

I'm sure Magus is what most would say, but he really had good a variety of techs and triple techs.
