    Other...what?

It's discrimination to not allow homosexuals the same rights as heterosexuals. Make marriage have no benefits legally if you think it's holy. That way, everyone has civil unions, and marriage is a private religious ceremony with no legal benefits.

I don't believe that crap. Domestic partnerships are fine and all that anyone needs. It just part of the gay agenda to normalize the lifestyle, which I sort of understand but society is not ready for it because...what comes next? Humans and animals? But why not, cause what if they were born that way?

    Ruins the Sanctity of Marriage

Same sex marriage is an attack on the sanctity of marriage. Same sex couples already have civil unions. Marriage is between a man and a woman.

They are not asking to be married in your church. They are asking to be married under civil law. Segregation into domestic partnership leaves them with over 100 deficits in rights and privileges. That is NOT equal. It's blatant discrimination.

If you have been divorced, then YOU have ruined the sanctity of marriage. How can gay marriage ruin anything?

Where can a gay couple get civil unions?

umm... I'd say divorce, wife beating, cheating on your spouse, are all much more of an attack on the sanctity of marriage than the sexual preference of any individual.

and i'd say gays do all that and more...not that it's right gay or straight. I know gays cheat at the same rate as straights and I'm sure they fight and breakup at even greater rates.

    Ruins the Sanctity of Marriage

Where is all of the above? Let me Add this, The God of the Bible judges nations that allow sin upon sin upon sin. What we allow, we condone which makes us guilty as well. If i vote to allow this depravity then I am as guilty before God as if I were envolved. What is wrong is wrong. we do live in a free country take your depravity go home, shut your door and shut your mouth. do not demand the world to accept your perversion.

Your church condemns them as perverts. That's what's wrong. Denying their existence as normal humans. You people used to consider blacks only 3/5 human, too. But you grew up and begrudgingly changed that view, and even allowed them to marry other races about 44 years ago, after being forced by the law to do so. Comparing them to pedophiles (not mutually consenting, not adults, and a crime of victimization of a weaker, younger person) and bestiality (not mutually consenting, not adults, not human, and a crime of victimization of a weaker, smaller creature) is offensive and completely wrong.

They are not perverts: they are born that way. They have mutually consenting adult relationships. These are normal human beings whose only difference is harder to see: not skin color or gender, but sexuality. It's hard for you to accept what you do not understand.

Judge them inside your church, but leave them alone in the civil arena.

how about those ex gay people that are delivered from their sin and realize they were not "born" that way?

The Bible declares that God condemns this behavour. not me or my church. Homosexuality is a choice. once that spirit takes hold it convinces the host that he or she was born that way. Listen you might not like it But God's plan is to deliver us from our sin, Even me. and my sin. I have allowed him to do this in me as a hetrosexual. everyone has a choice.

Do not demand the world to accept your 'perversion?' Is that not what you are doing, Larry? Give me a break. Your Bible was written by men who supposedly walked with Jesus. I don't know about you, but if I were going to have a book with my word in it, I would write it my damn self because my word would get ruined, tainted and reworded by people LIKE YOU! So how about you go home, shut your door and shut your mouth because gays want equality, not hate like you are spreading.

    Have a blessed day.

One day you will get it. because the Agenda is depraving more and more people. Then God will judge America like Soddam. You know what I do not hate you believe it or not. i know how difficult it is to abstain from hetrosexual desires. through the Holy Spirit of God it is possible. We are not slaves to our desires.

    Larry,

This will be my last reply/comment to you.

Gay people will not ruin anything at all. This country is the UNITED States of America where everyone deserves the same rights that they are entitled to. Marriage, being a CIVIL right, should not be denied to anyone. What would you do if you were told you couldn't do something because of how you were born? I promise, you would not like it. Many gay people work HARD, pay taxes and give to the economy. So, why should the gay community have their civil rights, or any rights for that matter, be taken away simply because of a simple thing as sexuality? Gay people are Americans. Gay people deserve to be treated as such. You let God decide what he wants to do with us when we get to the Pearly Gates. Until then, nobody is being hurt by gay marriage, believe it or not. You cannot catch "gay" as if it were a disease, so stop acting like it is. I wish you would open your mind an accept that gay people are humans, Americans and we deserve every single right we are entitled to us by the United States Constitution.

you do not have to reply I respect your position. If I voted to allow this union then I would be condoning it And God would hold me accountable. It was voted down.

Thank you, Larry. I respect your position as well even though I wish you would understand our stance on this. We do not want to ruin your view of marriage at all. That is not the case.

I have a question. If your child was gay, found a boyfriend/girlfriend they loved with all they had.. you would do what?
  • larry Nate November 07, 2008 03:40:42
    larry
well, that is a good question. When a child is in the development stage of their mind and sexuality they are impressionable. And if they are introduced or exposed to someone or something that is homsexual in nature then it can shape their undrstanding. and after a little exploration over time the sensuality of it all will become stronger and stronger and then that individual will swear they were born that way. I would teach my children Biblical sexuality and explain it to them when they are going through that developmental stage, and keep them from any other exposure.
  • niconey larry November 14, 2008 07:27:50
    niconey
how would you explain it if they still turned out gay? blame it on peers? the media? well, i guess you better keep your kids locked up so they're never exposed to it...

plenty of children are exposed to it their whole life and they never become gay...

plenty of children are raised in strong religion based households and still end up being gay, regardless of what they've learned about how God views it. These children have it the hardest because their God, and their own parents, can't accept the way they are. That is something I find disturbing.

of all the sins you allow, you're gonna fight this one? one that doesn't effect anyone but the people involved in the relationship? there are plenty of other sins that are legal and that effect way more people than just the ones doing it... face it, you guys aren't very good at preventing people from sinning...

I am a strong supporter of Proposition 8, and I don't disagree with your perspective. Let government grant rights through civil unions to anyone government chooses. Let churches/synagogues/mosques/t... perform marriages as they have always done. Historically, marriage is a holy institution that government should never have become entangled with. The current turmoil is the result. I agree - get government out of holy institutions like marriage. It is not churches that are violating the separation of church and state here. Marriage was in the domain of religion long before it was in the domain of government.

    Ruins the Sanctity of Marriage

First, I would describe it as a principled disagreement, and not a fear. They are two very different things.

Marriage is basically an institution of religion and most religion considers participating in gay activity to be sinful. Allowing gay marriage is undercutting the primacy of religion and religious values.

Then religion should be abolished under civil law, and all rights should be assigned only to civil unions. Religion should NOT be allowed to have special treatment under the law.

    Hevs,"M... SouthernB November 07, 2008 02:46:30
    Hevs,
Once upon a time religion had nothing to do with marriage, until around the 9th century when they started blessing marriages, then in the 12th century they started performing them in churches. Before that, marriage was merely a mutually beneficial contract between two families and nothing to do with the church.

Nobody is asking for gay people to be allowed to marry in church, that is down to the individual religion, but I see no issue with a civil marriage - I am getting married next year in a civil ceremony as I have no belief in religion - doesn't make me any less married that someone who gets married in a church does it?
