Question SodaHead

Do you think unemployed people are lazy?

~*~regs~*~ August 10, 2008 01:33:37

As many of you know there are several unemployed Americans and many people blame this all on Bush. My Aunt is unemployed because she is lazy, if she wanted a job she could easily go get one but she is too lazy. Because of her my uncle is in debt and has to work two jobs to pay off her debts.

It really depends...In this 'market' it's really hard to tell...many people have had to go outside their field of education and/or training, so that may take awhile, and they may have to downsize...That will all take time...The thing I get concerned with is (for example only): the single mother, living in gov't housing, that won't stop having children out of wedlock, and yet still gets gov't hand-outs. The gov't is enabling her to continue her lazy (goal-less) lifestyle...'Pretty sad, huh?...

the majority of people are not like your aunt.

and frankly its usually a person who has not experienced this that asks such an arrogant type of question. before you call people lazy try living in their place..

then you MIGHT have that right.

For those who have never been unemployed any long period it is easy to say the unemployed are lazy. Putting in applications and resumes daily can be a very humbling task knowing work prospects are slim. Not all the jobless want to remain unemployed and live on its meager payments. task work prospects slim jobless remain unemployed live meager payments

There are those who actively look and do everyhting they can but there may be nothing out there. They will more than likely take the first job they can get(or a couple of jobs)even if they will not be making the same amount of money they were making before. THEN, there are those who are truly LAZY. My next-door neighbor(gangbanger type)got laid off from his job at a printing press(probably fired since he liked to take a lot of days off when he was working)nearly 7 months ago and except for eight days in a row of work(cash paid under the table)over three months ago is still not working because he is lazy. My husband overheard him outside telling a friend that somebody suggested to him that he go to school(this guy dropped out of high school but yeah, he could take classes & update job skills, right?)but he said "I don't want to have to start all over again" WTF? Then another time, another friend of his told my neighbor about a job at a place that sounded like it was owned by the friend's relatives or friends and that he could probably get them to hire him(my neighbor) because of his connections. My stupid-ass lazy neighbor found out the job was 30 miles away and he sounded hesitant-didn't want to drive that far, was making other excuses, never mind the fact by this time he hadn...

Then another time, another friend of his told my neighbor about a job at a place that sounded like it was owned by the friend's relatives or friends and that he could probably get them to hire him(my neighbor) because of his connections. My stupid-ass lazy neighbor found out the job was 30 miles away and he sounded hesitant-didn't want to drive that far, was making other excuses, never mind the fact by this time he hadn't worked in about 4-5 months & has a family. The friend sounded exasperated and blurted out "Hey, a job's a job! You need a job!" Let me tell you how this guy(who's in his mid-forties)has been spending his days in last 7 months:working out with weights in garage listening to crap rap, vacuuming and/or cleaning his gangbanger truck or one of two other vehicles they have, riding bikes(mostly in morning when he should be looking for a job)with toddler step-granddaughter his(also lazy-ass)wife babysits and nine-year-old step-grandson(who lives with them but he thinks my neighbor & his wife are his real parents, but they're not), has other gangbanger types come over to house so they could stand around outside for 1-2 hours(during week & weekends) talking about and admiring each other's horrible looking gangbanger vehicles & mowing/watering tiny front/back lawns that he takes forever to do so he looks busy. etc, etc. You get the picture. He's happy collecting unemployment checks and taking handouts(cash and food)from his mom(who's in her seventies)and living in a house owned by his sister-in-law & her husband so even if they are not paying rent(I don't know if they are) they won't get kicked out like they probably would have been by now from a regular landlord. Truly embarrasing all around. So...yes there ARE some unemployed people who are lazy but then this jerkoff has always been lazy by nature anyway. I don't think he'll ever get a real job again but guess he doesn't care. Oh, BTW, he wants a job that will pay him to start EXACTLY what he was making before, along with not having to drive far, etc. LOL

Not everyone who is unemployed are lazy, as long as they are productively looking for jobs. As a former staffing, recruiter - I can tell you the difference. Some one who wants a job (no matter their qualifications) will take any job out there until they can find the right job. People who do not want to work when they have opportunities are lazy.

People who call you consistently and ask if you have a job for them. Unfortunately at that time you do not have anything to match their qualifications. BOOM! A job comes in and that person is a perfect match. They are the first person to cross your mind, because they have been so persistant. But when you call them - and they tell you "oh I forgot I had to go to court today," THAT IS A LAZY PERSON. Who in the hell really forgets they have court. Do you know how many times temps of mine's grandmother's have died.

At one time there was a job out there for everyone. I hope in these hard times, those people regret just checking in for work so they could get their welfare checks. Cause there ain't gonna be nothing left pretty soon. So stick your hand in your pockets - cause the hand outs are over.

Un-employed people are people just like anyone else. People who are lazy have jobs, just jobs that aren't very busy at all. To be lazy and get by, it would probably mean your parents are wealthy or someone is giving you everything you need. People without those people in their lives, are the people we think are un-employed because they are lazy.

Some people are certainly lazy, however, I'm unemployed and I'm looking everyday! I'm an engineer, I can do many things, and I can't get a job spraying lawns with insecticide of fertilizer. Over qualified. Pepsi advertised a truck driving job with I applied for, after applying, they said they didn't have anything that matched my interest. I wouldn't have applied if I wasn't interested.

It really does depend on why they are unemployed in the first place if they are say over 55 it's harder to find work and i understand that and ..some are severly disabled, some can't work because of maybe personal trauma or issues. But then there are those out there who are perfectly fit and healthy enough to seek work but just don't choose to so instead they bludge and they get a welfare check every fortnight for doing nothing when they should be looking for a job and earning money the right way!- People who wraught the system should have there entitlements to welfare cease....

I would say most people that don't work and would rather be taken care of by someone or government or whatever, is lazy. Now I'm going by people I know. Some are kin folk, but I know lazy when I see it. I've got one son that wants all the overtime he can get, then the other son works a little gets a little money then its lay around his house and play video games until he has to go back. If you really want to work, theres work out there.

Some certainly are, but there are millions who are not. There are many who, with good reason, are waiting for the right job. Just jumping into anything that comes along is appropriate when you're desperate, but not for those who can wait it out until they get the right job. millions reason waiting job jumping desperate wait job

Over all I do think they are, that being said I do think that work can be hard to find, in some areas of our nation, even menial ones. Some jobs may be beneath education and lifestyle, but when push comes to shove work is work and laziness is a dead end.

Try getting a job when you are over 55 and the ecconomy in your area is going into the toilet because there is no manufacturing going on anymore. The war is killing the ecconomies of some areas now. I live in a garrison town and businesses go belly-up any time there are new major deployments. Restruaunts go first. Then the retailers, then we are up the creek.

Most of those who have lost their jobs have done so because of deals our two top have made during office. We've lost a great deal to out-sourcing. The idea that our country can survive while we send jobs off to other countries to allow the rich to become wealthier is not the smartest plan we've allowed our government to get away with. And to say that you're lazy for getting squeezed out of a job is rude and not out of his character since taking office. But to see the American people cut each other down while he and his buddies lavish themselves and setup even more deals is shameful. This is a sad time in American histroy. The facts are in our faces.
