If you listen to many on this site and others, conservatism is a failed belief system steeped in failure upon failure. And in the wake of President Obama's win one year ago tomorrow, you would have to conclude that what happened tonight in Virginia did not happen at all. You would also have to believe that what appears to be happening in New Jersey, isn't actually happening at either.
Watching CNN tonight (Yes I did, but for a reason) you would believe that Republicans and more importantly, Conservatives, had a fluke of a night that can not be seen as any kind of referendum on President Obama, his policies or the current state of affairs in Washington D.C. We are to believe that because Obama wasn't on the ticket, the large numbers of young, urban and the otherwise Democratically energized simply sat it out and called it in this time around.
I'm afraid I will have to call B.S. on that theory for one simple reason; the numbers tell us just to opposite. As it appears right now, and keep in mind all of the votes have not yet been counted, 90% of the Black vote went for the Democrat in Virginia. And while that sounds strong, it has dropped from 97% just a year ago. The White vote just a year ago ran 52% for Mr. Obama yet today is seems to have shifted from 52% for the Democrats to 38%. Interesting to say the least.
So what does it mean? Buyers Remorse. Just over a year ago Obama ran as a left leaning centrist bent on doing what was necessary to offer hope for change. Today, in the wake of some of that change having been passed or being in the pipe and headed down the line towards Virginian's they realize that while Virginia has bypassed most of the very big problems being suffered around the country, they can not bypass it forever. They need someone in their corner to fight off the Democratically controlled Washington wave of crushing unemployment, spending and increasing Federal interference in their daily lives. They have rejected by a 20 point or larger swing overall, the Obama Presidency and particularly his policies.
How will the likely outcome of these elections manifest themselves in Washington D.C. later this week? The most telling sign will be the Health Care Reform bill due for a vote as early as Friday of this week. Blue Dog Democrats, the more conservative fiscally of the Left, may well bolt on the bill as it is written because many of them sit in traditionally Red districts and they fear that just because they won last time, a true conservative will likely take that away from them if ran by the GOP or worse, the people themselves.
But remember, McDonnell won Virginia for one reason and one reason only, he gave Virginians a reason to vote for him, not just a name on the ballot to vote for to show their displeasure with the same old same old. In New Jersey in recent weeks, Christie has developed the same conservative message for those in Jersey to vote for and he will likely be another new GOP Governor at the next Governor's get together. In New York, in just 30 days, the unknown know holds the opportunity to take over if the vote holds along with a California district as well.
Conservative principles, when explained in their bare bones as facts will sell to Americans because it is what they overwhelmingly believe in.
Make no mistake, in the next few weeks you will see a sizable shift in the way Washington operates and Obama himself may even make a "I heard you" speech, but make no mistake, he has not changed nor has Harry Reid of Nancy Pelosi.
A Tiger does what a Tiger does....

Most disappointed, I think, were those who believed he would be responsive to the American people, and could begin to heal the strict party lines contention.
Buyers remorse, indeed. It will grow worse.
I guess no matter how well the republicans did, we were bound to be described as the losers.
These people still dont get why we are upset. It is not because we are sore losers bent on revenge, or racists that dont like blacks, or domestic terrorists bent on distroying America. It is because we still believe in the goodness of the American people, the greatness of our Bill of Rights and Constitution. It is because we want those freedoms and rights for our children, and not the empty promises of utopia in exchange for our liberties.
We love our country. We want leaders whether they be democrats, republicans, libertarians, constitutional party, conservative party, or the green party, to represent and, yes, listen to the people who elected them. We are willing to sacriice our time, money, and dreams, if it will give our children the chance to grow up in the great United States that our parents grew up in. We are willing to sacriice our time, money, and dreams, if it will give our children the chance to grow up in the great United States that our parents grew up in. That includes the chance for anyone to become whatever they wish to be in life, no matter what sex or color, and the freedoms that have been fought and died for by patriots and our military for generations. We want Freedom, and Liberty as promised in our constitution, not socialsim or marxism which our grandparents fought so hard to protect us from in WWII and during the cold war.. We want our voice, our liberty, and individual rights back. The United States of America is still a great country, and she is worth taking pride in and defending.
What me MUST do is strongly educate our children at home on the constitution, it benefits and why a constitutional congress is a fair form of government, V a socialist congress.
We will be battling this for another 40 years, because they have subverted our education system and indoctrinated our children!
America must take education away form the government, they have overstayed their welcome!
In the words of that great song, "I Hear The Train A'Comin..."
Obama RAN on winning the NECESSARY War in Afghanistan..
Cutting or at least NOT raising the taxes for the majority of Americans..
Healing the racial rift in this country etc.. etc..
ALL conservative principles..
Democrats ALWAYS run and win by citing Conservative Principles..
The problem IS,, they never live UP to them nor did they EVER intend to..
"Beware the one who's ALWAYS pointing fingers"..
Generally speaking,, those who see no good in anyone else knows something about themselves that they want to hide..
In Contrast..Those who believe in the goodness of others leave themselves open to disappointment..
WE have spent our lives persuing our American Dream of having a decent job that we work so HARD to keep,, A GOOD family that also takes up much of our time,, our spiritual needs and yes,, maybe even a little time for recreation now and then...
We SHOULDN'T have to constantly monitor those of whom we have placed our Trust to do the right things in our name..
We SHOULDN'T have to but as we have come to LEARN the HARD way,, we DO..
NO..We haven't been doing such a great job of it in the past but there's the promise of 20/20 hindsight..
KNOWING that,, Maybe we'll do better in the Future..
