I'm still pretty misty-eyed over this, and I want to think that all parents would be. What is your take on this story?

When 6-year-old Elena Desserich was diagnosed with brain cancer, she began hiding hundreds of little love notes around the house for her parents to find after she was gone. Here’s the story:

Just before her sixth birthday, Elena Desserich (right) was diagnosed with brain cancer and given 135 days to live. She lived 255 days, passing away in 2007. After her death, Elena’s parents, Brooke and Keith, found hundreds of notes from Elena hidden around the house — in between CD cases, between bookshelves, in dresser drawers, in backpacks….

"It just felt like a little hug from her, like she was telling us she was looking over us"

That is the most touching story I have ever heard. I am going to have to go and get the book and finish reading it. I have a daughter that is five now and I don't know how I would handle news like this. These are very strong parents and a very sweet innocent little girl.

This is an amazing story about someone who was so loving and wonderful. I love her and I never met her. How could you not. I have worked with Cancer patients when I worked at the hospital and my experience with them was that they were more giving, loving, complained less and less demanding. Then I would get some sorry ass on State Insurance faking so they could get pain pills and they were horrible go figure. Makes me wonder if God is not taking all the good people home.

Wow for a 6 year old to do that is pretty amazing, my guess is it must of helped her take her mind off of everything that was going around as she was dying. I know with my epilepsy I sometimes write about that to take my mind off it. especially when I use to always have seizures. writing is a good way to express ones self.

Such a sweet story, especially knowing that the love goes on, with the notes being shared in a book, and profits to a cancer fund. The death of a child is sad, but these people touch my heart in other ways. God bless them.

It always pains me to have to see one taken so young. I never have the words for things like this as it is hard to write or type when you're trying not to cry. Poor little girl and I cannot imagine the grief her parents have been feeling since her loss.
They'll treasure those notes like no other.

Wow!! That just tears my heart out. Having raised four daughters and one son, I can't imagine having to bury one of my children. It was bad enough having to bury my wife whom I lost to cancer nearly 20 years ago.

I'm speechless, which is quite unusual for me.

Children have not learned to be frightened of death at that age and no doubt are open to see what we as adults no longer see and remember.

It breaks my heart to see any child suffer and this loving, caring child is surely with God. May God look after her family until they meet again as they are the ones now suffering their loss.

i havent read it and i didnt read
im pretty emotional especially since im preg
but i saw it on the news
she seemed wise even for her years to do that
and it is very touching

Yea its made me cry..but children have a specail light inside them. She knew what was happening and loved her family very much.
