The World I Know
"the world I know" The story I have is rather unusual..I have loved Collective soul for many years and often crave the music...Anyhow a few years ago I was trying to deliver a load of steel rolls amounting to over 30,000 pounds( I am a truck driver) Earlier in the trip I had a minor incident which cause the steel to shift to one side of the trailer causing it to lean heavily to one side. I had tried to have it fixed but it was too heavy for a standard forklift to move. It was a small company I was working for at the time and we didn't have the resources to fix it..Between me and my delivery stood the Sierra Nevada mountains..We truck drivers are obligated to deliver. Fearing for my very life and feeling as prone as I have ever been I started the climb..when I turned in the direction of the lean the trailer would tilt dangerously far out. My nerves were shattered and my mortality was as close as it had ever been. when I couldn't take the stress anymore "The world I know" popped into my mind and I scrambled to find the disc..I fired up the song with tears in my eyes and an intense feeling running through me. I sang along and considered what my death might mean and what my life was worth..After the track, I caught my breath and with a renewed sense of determination I carried on. I wanted to live to see another day and knew that my love for Collective Soul would last forever. Thank you for the feelings you have given me over the years.December
You had me at, Shine, but December has a special memory for me. My grandmother never learned to drive and so she would call on her grandchildren (I'm the oldest) to drive her places. Once when I picked her up, I had December playing and she started singing do, do, do, do along with the music. It made me smile. She was an awesome woman and she was one person who taught me to love and appreciate music and baseball. I love you Grandma Mary. God Bless You!Shine
I had the chance to meet you all when I worked at Atlantic in the tour department and I remember going to LeBar Bat in NYC...and having a blast. This song was always one of my favorites. Oh..I manage a band now called Sugar Red Drive. Check them out guys and maybe we will meet again someday. www.sugarreddrive.comTake Care, Pam

The World I Know
Definitely The World I Know. Especially the video for it. That song has kept me from going over the edge and losing it. I have had six bad years and that song made me look to the bright side. From losing my child, two strokes, both my husband and I layed off within 11 days of eachother, losing our house, and many more things that took us down. But through it all, I had one thing.... Hope that tomorrow will be a better day and each day is a blessing and I enjoy the little things. Collective Soul has lifted my spirits even when they were at the lowest and when I was on top of things, it is great to hear their music to enjoy the energy and good times. All their music is awesome and now that my son totally loves them too, it is great to share their music. We met them in Vegas and I swear it changed my son. He is only 10 and has been playing guitar, bass, and drums for about 9 months now but he has a passion in him and I thank Collective Soul for that. They brought out his love of music and I look forward to taking him to more concerts! The World I Know
Out of the #1 hits I would have to stay that "The World I Know" had a profound effect on me. I first heard it in Jr. High, it was a very hard time for me. I had been reunited with my biological mother who I had not had any contact with in 14 years. Not longer after that she decided she did not want to have a relationship with me. I remember feeling so pathatic that the woman who gave birth to me didnt even like me. I would go into my room, lock the door, and turn up this song as loud as I could and sing well more like scream it at the top of my lungs, and cry. But now Im all grown up with kids of my own and still love the song. I saw them in Vegas in Sept and when the played it the tears came back. I also love "She said" I really can relate to that song. CS is awesome. I love you guys!Undecided
Can I say that EVERY song is my favorite! I have been a fan since the early 90's and I just had the chance to see you last week. I was soooooo happy to finally see my all time faves and was not disappointed. I love your spiritual heart Ed Rolins, I sooo get what your saying in every song. I lost my fiance July 24, 2005 and would not have made it without you and your songs. My BFF Ty sent me "Satellite" to let me know he is here for me although I live in California and he lives in Colorado. That song just helped me more than I can ever say.... My BFF Ty is an amazing drummer and he is heavily influenced by all of you, so when the sticks came flying at the end of the concert, one hit my hand and bounced off and the other flew right over my head and a guy jumped nearly on me to grab it. I wanted it to send to my amazing friend Ty to say thank you for all the love and support and our love for "Collective Soul". I cannot stop playing All your albums. Can't wait for your new one to come out in January 2009 (I think you said). All my devotion and spiritual love to you.Shawna

WHATS THE DEAL WITH RYAN ????? ALL US FANS REALLY REALLY WANT TO KNOW . WE HAVE BEEN WITH YOU THROUGH THICK AND THIN AND FEEL WE DESERVE AN ANSWER PLEASE ,,,,,THANK YOU ....Undecided
I'm not really undecided...it's just that the song that has affected me the most is not on the list. My favorite is "Satellite" because on "Home", Ed explains that it was written to his son who is too young to fully understand the extent of his father's love right now, but will have a deeper understanding when he is older and hears it again with a more mature perspective. As a mom of 3 sons, I can really relate to that and the depth of his love for his boy really touches my heart. It's a beautiful song, especially the version on "Home".Precious Declaration
It is hard to describe how Collective Soul has changed my life. I chose Precious Declaration for the song and the Disciplined Breakdown CD both. The CD came out during a very difficult time in my life. My marriage was over, the man I wanted to be with was with someone else, I was moving to a new state and new job and I was so lonely and depressed that I began drinking heavily every day just to get by. I bought the CD because of the title and I couldn't stop listening to it. It gave me so much inspiration and I believe it truly helped me heal myself. I have all of their CD's and I listen to them all the time. I prefer them to the radio. Nothing lifts me up more than hearing Ed sing and the guys play. If you were to ask those who knew me during that time of my life they would tell you that Ed Roland and Collective Soul helped save my life. There are no words to say thank you enough.Shine
I love this song. The concert with the youth orchestra was amazing.Precious Declaration
Precious Declaration has to had have the most affect on me simply because it came out during a time in my life where I decided I was in charge of my own destiny! I was not going to let others decide my fate any longer, and the words in this song pretty much said it all! It still gives me strength to this very day! Very powerful lyrics, ED! Kudos!Shine
Has to be Shine. It was the first song i heard from the band and I just had to hear more. Whenever i am depressed or down I put on Collective Soul and dissapear and all is good. Especially Shine. Its a song that will last the test of time and will sound just as awesome in 50 years time. An awesome song fullstop!Shine
The reason why - living in the UK where CS aren't as well known, I've been championing the band since one of our terrible radio stations played this song. Got the album, played to everyone I know and bought every album since. Love the band, and this brings back memories of good times, simpler times and it's lasted. It still sounds fantastic today. So many people are ignorant of CS's music. Their loss, our gain. The World I Know

The World I Know
From the moment I first heard "The World I Know" shortly after the album was released I was forever a fan of Collective Soul. I remember my best friend and I listening to it over and over again. It was what Oprah calls an "ah ha moment." I felt such a connection to it, and still do to this day. It's my favourite song ... ever ... by any artist. It's hard to put into words what this song means to me. It takes me on an emotional rollercoaster every time I hear it, usually bringing me to tears, and even moreso when I'm experiencing it live in concert. Not necessarily bad emotions, just memories of my past and some glimpses into my future. In difficult times it helps me deal, even if it's just to get the frustration or sadness out. In happier times it triggers wonderful memories that make me smile from ear to ear and helps me stay positive and grateful for the things I have, even if only for the brevity of the song itself.
I cannot thank Collective Soul enough for presenting this song to the world. It means a lot to me, and I'm sure to many others. Thank you for writing such a beautiful song.

my fav song is needed, its a realy sweet song and it realy reminds me of my loved ones. The World I Know
this is my favorite although hard to choose you don't have one i don't like. but i think like that too alot , i've had a really rough time the last 7yrs. so i have the thoughts but could never do it, when it gets me down that far i just pray not to wake but i smack myself and remind me there's just as much good as there is bad and be thankful for what i have. the song helped me to see things in a different light and the music is so peaceful. i really like the acoustic from my dvd in morocco, which by the way that whole thing was beautiful....georgia♥girl (sharon)The World I Know
I love all of them but this song jsut reminds me to be humble and remember to step back and love.Shine
Shine is the most memorable hit for me. It was the first song of collective soul that i heard. I was celebrating christmas in Galveston Tx, with my family and my brother that album in his stocking we listened to it for hours, and i had wished that i had gotten in instead. i was an intant fan. that was years ago and collective souls has since then been my favorite band. but the most memorable would be the time i got to hear that song in concert. It was in Baqubah Iraq. I was one of the many soldiers sitting in front of a wooden stage listening to the acoustic concert that they put on for us. And it affected me because for that brief while all that was going on dissappeared, and i was lost in the music. After the concert i was lucky enough to have my picture taken with the guys. Although soldiers are considered hero's to most, that picture is in my scrapbook and the caption above it reads my hero's. thank you collective soulWhere The River Flows
a million yrs.from now someone will have wish they could been here to see u guys live when they dig tis track and play it.The World I Know
"The World I Know"...lyrically it stands alone against all others, taking you to the actual edge and bringing you back to where you belong...thankful.Listen
it's SO! hard to decide Collective Soul has been undoubtedly one of my MOST! favourite bands since day1 (SHINE)and i have followed their career all along.
Their Collective blend of Rockin guitars along with the well assembled lyrics
it is as though they have lived the same life i have ,or i am on a equal paralell as Collective Soul, cause they get me.
If they will keep putting out music till the day i meet my demise.
I will listen until then.
Reguardless of this outcome of this contest....
I want to thank Collective Soul...for Making the Music for MY/ALL Lifetime

I picked undecided because it was the Shine, December, Where The River Flows, and The World I Know songs that reminds me of my husband while he was in rehab for alcohol & painkiller addiction. What I refer to as "the better days". Unfortunately his addictions were too strong and he died December 17, 2006. The first day I went to visit him in rehab, he introduced me to Collective Soul music. I instantly loved the music! Funny thing is, he knew I would...I love and miss him so much! But I will always have the music that reminds me of "the better days".Heavy
Unfortunately this song reminds me of a relationship that I had to end. The emotional "weight" of this person would "bring me down".The World I Know
This song still brings tears to my eyes, even after I depended on this song to see suicide was not an option. I was perm. laid off after 15 yrs. and my finances dwindled. There was no way out. Finally after 4 yrs. I am back on track. God Bless Collective Soul. Thanx for playing Musikfest,Bethlehem,PA . I was there. Tears rolled down. It's the world I know. Thank You !!! I thought you were the headliner. I can't understand why not. I need set list. Peace!!!Undecided
I am unable to tell you which CS song that I like best. They are ALL so good! I have been a fan for several years. TRUE STORY: I was fortunate enough to see CS play a small club in Spartanburg, SC. Totally unannounced surprise performance. Holy sh*t that was a good show! Plus, CS was so loud that night that they actually blew out some kind of electrical grid in downtown S'burg. Im talking about they blew out the power for like an entire city block! Eventually, I had to leave the club that night because that club was so crowded, and hot & completely dark! As I was walking back to my car (that was parked a few blocks away), the street lights came back on & I heard the roar of the crowd rise up again & the music kicking back in. What an awesomely dangerous night that was. I'm surprised that the Fire Marshall didn't shut the joint down that night! I hope you guys know how good you are! - Bud in South CarolinaPrecious Declaration
of the choices listed it is precious declaration, however, "Waisting Time", "Maybe", and "Reunion" have all had a profound affect on meUndecided
Actually almost all of CS's songs are my favorite. I call it my "Happy Music" because just listening to Collective Soul can bring me out of any sad, bad, or depressed mood. I love it all! anytime I need a little lift, I just turn on the Collective Soul. Thanks guys! You're MUCH cheaper than therapy ;)The World I Know
