Paul McCartney's Fenway Park concert not sold out: Has Paul McCartney lost his appeal?

doodlebug August 05, 2009 19:51:01

Ex-Beatles musician Paul McCartney will perform at Fenway Park for two nights in a row. But these days, even a big name like Paul McCartney isn't guaranteed to fill the seats at Fenway Park. Paul McCartney has stiff competition, the recession, and maybe the fading novelty of Fenway Park concerts going against him. Is it possible that Paul McCartney's appeal belongs on that list too?
Yes, Paul McCartney doesn't have the star power he used to have.
Paul McCartney will always be a legend with undying appeal.
I think that Paul McCartney...

He is getting older. that means his most of his fans are getting older, and not going to concerts as much. I bet if he does a pay per view he'll have more viewers.
I dont go to as many concerts as I did when I was younger either.

It's a bit true. I mean as most people said, he's getting older, and so is his main audience. Combined his ticket prices it makes it a bit harder for everyone to see him.

I like Paul McCartney, but then I'm 49 years old too. I liked Paul better than John Lennon or George Harrison, but Ringo was my favorite Beatle.

    Isn't appreciated as much.
He should be but now all it is about is the Jonas Brothers and Lady Gaga.

What I don't understand is why people can't understand he influenced so many musicians.

    I think that Paul McCartney...

He doesn't take his clothes off on stage, doesn't have a mouth full of garbage that he spews at his audience, he isn't tattooed all over his body, his songs aren't full of woman-bashing lyrics and down-grading the police, so why would you think that anyone under 35 would bother to go see him? His fan base probably smokes a toke or two, but prefers to be comfortable and not in Fenway Park. A two night gig isn't too bright either. One night would bring out the adventuresome geriatric crowd, but two nights is overkill. His divorce is a mute point. His model ex-wife was not a sympathetic character and if anything, folks wondered how McCartney stayed naive long enough to marry someone who was totally after his wallet, and was dumb enough not to have a pre-nup. He was probably protected from the money-grubbers too long in a good marriage.

I think he lost some of his appeal due to all of the ongoing publicity regarding his divorce. And I think those from my age group still have a tendency to think of "Paul McCartney and Linda", his long time love.

Paul is overrated and I've never understood his appeal. I'm with the late George Carlin on this one: the wrong two Beatles died first.

I think people are watching how much money the spend. So the people who would travel to see him, don't.

He still has a great deal of appeal. Maybe the problem is that people just don't have the money to spend on these concerts.

I just think concert tickets in this economy are too darned expensive. Costs are $65.00 to $200.00, this does not include a sitter, transportation into the city, A meal, drinks and concert memorabilia. It is just too pricey.

The Beatles were one of the best bands, and that still hold truth today, years later. The band was also said that it was almost as good as Elvis Presly himself. He will always be a legend, one of the guys who rocked the world.

Sure, he might have lost some appeal to some audiences, but he will also be the same as he's always been to fans. ♥

I would like to go more to his concerts but it can be very expensive. The last Paul concert I went to was in Fed Ex fields it was hard to get good seats. By the way I am a younger fan so I have the energy to scream, obsess, and freak out at a Paul concert. I tried to do it at his and Ringo's concert.
