Question Music

Mp3 sound too loud or not loud enough?

(¯`·._.·[ĞųįŦǻŗṖ£ã¥ęŕ]·._.·´¯) November 05, 2009 02:24:17

Dont you hate it when you are listening to your Ipod or Mp3 player and a song comes on that forces you to turn it up and then the next song comes on and it burst your ear drums?

i have been messing around with a program call mp3 gain. it is free off the internet and does a great job of levelizing your music collection.
If you are interested and start using it just set the db's between 95 and 100. do not go any higher as your music will start clipping. default is set to 85 or 89
Enjoy and have fun, and save those ear drums
You!

    Hmm ...

The only reason I have an MP3 Player is for LONG trips (I drive between my home and the farm .. a couple days drive each way) .. so like to have my Classical Music to keep me balanced, relaxed and just concentrating on DRIVING.

Thanks for the tip about the program.

Depends on the file. You can lose alot in conversion- most file formats are based around converting it to a simpler form then recreating it (thus 128kbps is better than 64kbps for mp3: 128kbps is larger because it keeps more kb/s).

Then you can get into further degradation- did someone burn a cd from a mp3 that was at 64kbs? Did they then convert to 64kbps?

356 is a decent audiophile level to keep-- you lose some, but nothing too horrible.

I do hate it when that happens. I had an album that was extremely quiet for some reason, and I would have to turn it way up, but then there would be a metal song that would kill my hearing. Ugh. Thanks for sharing about the program, I might give it a look.

Usually I don't think they're loud enough, at least not when compared to wave files.

well try that program, it will boost the low ones and soften the ones that are way to loud
