Michael Jackson, King of Pop, Dead at 50

- Michael Jackson, the self-anointed "King of Pop" who revolutionized music but whose legacy was marred by allegations of child molestation and bizarre behavior, died after suffering cardiac arrest Thursday. He was 50 years old.

    What a shock! No matter what his scandals were in his life, his music was and always will be what he should be remembered for. He will finally be at peace. Like him or hate him, he was an icon in the music industry.

    Please, what amazing music? Quincy Jones did all the production on the "good" stuff. Weak song writing, great production. And b.s. on the wanting to help people. I am musician and I know guys who have made it, they only care about people when it looks good for the press and their potential fans. He had a great voice before he started his effed up stylizations but let's not elevate him to godhood.

    Oh great, now we'll have 24-hour non-stop coverage of this poor man's death, funeral, etc. Never mind that NK is threatening nuclear annilation, people are dying in Iran, and congress is trying to push through the most massive and potentially costly new social program (socialized healthcare) in generations. I love Mr. Jackson's music, but he destroyed his life years ago. We need to just say "RIP and thanks for the great music" and move on for heaven's sake.

    Is "POP" a weirdo? "King of Pop" is a misnomer. It should be, 'King of Weird' or, 'King of Pedophilia' or just, 'King-lover of little pee-pees'. Don't shower this guy with such loving devotion as to make him out a "legend". Beyond being weird he did have a legitimate musical talent but that cannot overshadow his 'sickness'. Chuck Gilliam
