Do you think "emo" is just a "trend" that will become obsolete in a few years?

    Yes

This trend has destroyed the music industry, corrupted social groups, and dismantled the view of the "man" that is meant to be strong and masculine, but with this trend (poser fashion, if you will) it has been watered down to whimps and trannies. These people have stolen from different social groups. Take for example, the old school punk scene. "Emos" have made it impossible to were skinny jeans without being stereotyped as this trend, when it is an old school punk fashion. I myself wear these fashions and I'm constantly looked upon as "emo". And if I see one more dude, besides Marilyn Manson, wearing eyeliner....I'll kill every one of those pussies!!!

I do know if it will remain obsolete or if it is a trend but in my point of view it used to be about the music. You know, the "Non-Conforming" music and "O life is pain" bullshit. But now, it has become the most disturbing and conforming thing right now and they call it "fashion" and it's the "cool" thing now a days? I really don't get fads sometimes, their rediculous.

I believe Emo is a term that will be obsolete, but not a trend...it may change slightly and be called something new, but it has been around since I was a teen, and will be around long into the future, just perhaps under a new name.

I wouldn't really call emo a trend. It all started as a style or genre of music. And then it seemed as if the image took over the original term for what emo really is. So I guess, like all trends they come and go, and if you look at emo as a trend, then yeah it will fade, but as for music? Emo is really a modernistic version of alternative-new wave music. Music is adaptive with time and I believe calling music emo is hard to relate to considering nearly all music is "emotional". Saying that, I would have to say that emotion in music will live on. Without emotion you couldn't have music. And I guess if it's more emotional than others, we directly call it "emo."

I was called emo at a concert once.... I think that was a big mistake on their part. O.o considering I am the label less... I wear what ever the hell is conformable. I like black. I like green. I wear no makeup. I wear everything baggy. I have steel toed shoes on all the time. I have long hair. Emo I think not. ^_^ but yes I think it's a trend that will eventually go down the hole. Most emo's are not emo's they are posers.

pretty much, if you wear skinny pants, you're called "emo."

I think this trend will go away and then some other interesting fashion will come.

Definitely. Once people like us know a word for something, that something is already dying (actually dead to truly cool people).

Urgh.... It’s hard to tell isn't it? I think it will probably just change, gradually, so that we mightn't even notice but in a few years the then-emo will be totally different from the now-emo...

Some people have turned it into a trend. And it wouldn't be one if there were no lables based on the way you look. There are two types of "emo" people, i guess you could say. Those who dress for the look, and those who are truly "emo" (like depressed for example). When people stop dressing for the look, it will die off for the most part.
