About Me: Variety TV editor Michael Schneider learned to read by memorizing pages of TV Guide each week. He can still kick your ass at the magazine's crossword puzzle. Alas, young Michael turned his lifelong obsession with primetime schedules, cheesy network jingles, theme songs, TV call letters and "The Golden Girls" into an actual job in 1995. That year he graduated from Northwestern University and was recruited to join weekly trade newspaper Electronic Media. Michael spent time in Washington covering Congress for EM before heading out west in 1996 – just in time for the launch of "Homeboys in Outer Space" on UPN. "Homeboys in Outer Space" didn't last the year, but Michael carried on, eventually moving up to Los Angeles bureau chief of Electronic Media. But in 1999, Variety called. For ten years he has helped the world safe from bad scheduling moves, bizarre reality shows and sitcoms starring actors dressed as cavemen. As a TV expert, he has appeared on ABC "World News Tonight" and "Primetime Live," NBC's "Today" show and "Dateline NBC," CBS' "The Early Show," CNN, CNBC, E!, MSNBC, the BBC, and countless other programs and networks. Michael is also a frequent guest on G4's "Attack of the Show," and was a reality TV judge on the Fox Reality Channel. As an L.A.-centric blogger at Franklin Avenue (www.franklinavenue.net), Michael's sites have been written up by the Los Angeles Times and Los Angeles magazine.
