Yum why is this news. Women get preggers... what's new? Is it supposed to be shocking because she's a CEO?

Yes it means that GOD the Creator of all things, it means she will have a child, baby and the planned parenthoods call these created little humans like to get rid of them. Many of
the people use the word "fetus" which means "little one or offspring"! Children are a blessing from GOD (YAHWAH)!

Why on earth should it matter? I guess some conservative person came up with this one. Many(most) of you are against abortion, but you don't want to give pregnant women jobs.

Ummm, duh, yes, it matters. How stupid does a company have to be to hire a new CEO that's going to have to be leaving in a few months time, for a couple of months anyway? For any reason, not just pregnancy!

What, this was the ONLY person in the world they could hire as CEO at this point in time?

If anyone has Yahoo stock, now may be the time to dump it, this company ain't gonna be around for the long haul!

Obviously it matters, she's going to need maternity leave and there will be a lot of times where she will be busy you know... having a baby. It's not necessarily a bad thing but next time you choose a CEO they should probably be done having kids (even have kids out of the house).

I wouldn't think a company would want to hire a CEO who was going to be taking a significant amount of time off just a few months after being hired.

In theory I would like to say no, but the truth is that having an infant is a MAJOR distraction/ responsibility - I don't care who you are,...and with Marissa having to log 100 hour weeks - this will cause undue stress. She's a 37 year old first time CEO with a ton of pressure on her...Maybe she can pull it all off, but it certainly matters

What about when the child is born? What about the first couple years of the babies life when the baby needs to nursed, changed, etc? Great... shes successful... but what about the child? Just gonna throw it in a day care for someone else to worry about?

Just like everyone that will be her choice. The leaders at Google hopes she takes weeks off at a time to spend with her child so they can bury Yahoo.

If she has the skills to fix things, no doubt breast feeding in the corporate office will make front page news at yahoo, or they will start a new thing, MILF's in the workplace, how to avoid Sexual harassment lawsuits.

I realize it is wrong to say, but I wouldn't hire a pregnant woman (which, yes, it is illegal to not on the basis of that) and not just because in my line of work with nuclear fuels you are exposed to radiation and there are real concerns of fetal complications.

I think that a woman with a family will take more time off than a woman without a husband/wife and without kids - they can work more, stay later, come in earlier, and not have to take weekends off or have evenings when a kid has a play and they can't work.

I work at least 20 hours a day 7 days a week, it wouldn't be right for a woman with a kid to do that (or healthy for a pregnant woman). I will caveat by saying that if her significant other is a stay at home parent it isn't as bad after having the kid.

20 hours a day, 7 days a week? HOW and WHY? How much sleep do you get a day, 1 hour?

I love my career, there isn't anything else I want to do except work haha cat-naps through the day, adding to about 3 hours (sometimes less sometimes more, depends on how much there is to do).

You're 16 you don't work 20 hours a day 7 days a week, that is illegal. Plus to work with radiation you have to be of age. You're not even old enough to understand what a woman especially a mother is capable of.

I'm emancipated and a graduate student working with naval nuclear propulsions, nuclear fuels, and various spectroscopic techniques revolving around renewable energy; my age has no bearing on my career or my life and, while I understand the assumption, I will say that I don't appreciate it.
I just don't think it would be a good thing to do as a mother since she wouldn't be able to spend as much time with her child, even with her child she would very likely be e-mailing and taking phone calls. I'm not saying it isn't at all possible, but am saying it would matter to me if I were making the deal.

Oh, right, I almost forgot, having children makes you incapable of working. I understand the last few months of the pregnancy when it's difficult to stand up, but from that video down there she can't be more than a few weeks in.
