At your local hospital you want to help out , but by doing that it would mean a paid employee might lose their job, would you still volunteer?
This happened here, the hospital said it can save money by replacing paid workers with volunteers.

They replace a full-time employee with two part-time employees, so they don't need to pay them any benefits.
They replace qualified employees with those who are under-qualified but willing to work for a lower salary.
It's not a good sign and it harms society as a whole, but the company profits, so that's all they care about, the "bottom line."
