Yes, matter fact when younger and worked at a major super store, Albertsons, i witnessed a few people stealing produce. IMO, if they were so desperate to steal produce then there were probably good reasons for their actions.

Probably. Thankfully, I wouldn't have to. Plenty of soup kitchens and churches.

I believe even that down & out a little wit would find you enough charities & charitable people to help!

No. That would be depriving someone else of their goods. If things got that messed up, I guess I'd hunt and gather in the country, or beg for food and shelter if in the city, and unable to work.

    Hunting is just as illegal.

It is? That wasn't included in the question parameters, and I wasn't aware of that law. Anyway, it doesn't change the fact that I'm not going to steal.

If it is not in season or you don't have a license it is a bigger offense than stealing food and you can do more jail time. If you can't afford food how will you afford a hunting license?

I could fish; I've caught catfish and other edible fresh water fish before.

There is plenty of edible vegetation throughout this nation that only requires basic survival skills to understand and find. Stealing from one, for a good cause, is still stealing.

You make a good point about edible vegetation, but if it is not on your property is it not still stealing?

73% of the land in this nation is owned by the federal and state governments, which means it is owned by you and me, so I wouldn't have to limit myself to only my property.
  • Psicolabis Reichstolz 2012/06/28 04:13:58

Actually, is stealing from the federal goverment, wich is stealing from everybody
  • Reichstolz Psicolabis 2012/06/28 13:10:54

Wrong, I pay for that land every quarter when I send my taxes, both personal and business, to the federal government. The government doesn't own that land, We the People, do.

Easily, we just won three public use cases( and one which we beat the Marines to continue to use public ground for public use) here in CA. All it takes is a recognizable argument. And that argument starts with "Where does the state or federal government derive the funds to maintain this land?" When the judge recognizes that the funding comes for the "people" are argument is well on the way to victory. All state and federal lands are property of the government and the government serves at the will of the people.

If it was between my family eating or starving I would steel if I had to. I may try to be honest and talk to the grocers seeing if they would donate some food to my family at the end of the day. But if I couldn't get any assistance I'd have to steal.

I would do what ever was necessary to provide for my family.. That is why we live where we live, We have the ability to grow our own food and protect what we have from those who would try to take it, Without asking first... We would gladly give what we could as long as it did not leave us short.

As long as my family and I don't do anything stupid than my family won't starve. It's also a sin to steal, and it is against the law.

I have never been in that position (almost), but I would do just about anything for my children. If I were that desperate to steal to feed them, then by stealing, it would bring attention to my problem and hopefully, some help.

That's breaking the law. Everyone who said yes, you're all going to prison because i've just told the police.
