Would You Spend $1,620 for a Slice of Will and Kate's Wedding Cake?

OK, we're a little bit curious to see if Will and Kate's "royal" wedding cake was really that much more delicious than the ones mere mortals serve at their weddings. But we still wouldn't spend $1,620 for a year-old slice. Four days after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first wedding anniversary, a piece of their eight-tiered fruit cake is going up for auction on Thursday with a starting bid of $162, the "Today" show reports (but the final price is expected to hit the high four figures).

will kate

The cake, which featured almost 900 frosting flowers, was served at a lunchtime reception for close friends and family, according to "Today." The slice that's up for grabs comes in a white and gold tin, along with a note that reads "With best wishes from TRH (Their Royal Highnesses) The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall in celebration of the wedding of TRH the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge."

For your money, you'll also receive the 16-page "Order of Service" from Westminster Abbey, which includes the vows, hymns and prayers from the wedding. In 2008, one buyer paid $1,830 for a slice of Charles and Diana's wedding cake. Would you pay almost as much for a taste of modern royal life?

Are they for real? Who the hell in their right mind would spend that type of money on a damn piece of cake? They are royality, but sh*t for that matter I'm royality and my cake is sweeter! I can take that money and pay car note, house mortgage, food and other things that are more important! Get out of here!!

Quite frankly my wedding cake sucked. It tasted horrible and cost a small fortune.

2 weeks latter my wife made this. Sooo much better and just a tad cheaper.

But then I wouldn't spend $3 dollars to win a chance to have lunch with Obozo either.

    Used to be $100, then $50, then $10, now it's $3 bucks.

    Truly pathetic.

What does it happen to have 100k of gold flakes embeded between the cake and cream? If it does I wouldnt want it for its end will be in my much cheaper toilet seat.

While I am very happy for them and think they make a great couple...No way would I shell out money for a slice of year old cake. Heck, I wouldn't shell out money for a slice if it was the day of the ceremony.
