Without question or hesitation, and likely after delivering a bit of Old South education.

Well, I would make sure first.
There's nothing I hate more than a parent that beats their child. If they're going to beat their child, they shouldn't even have one.

I would have to have some pretty solid evidence to back it up, but I wouldn't hesitate if I knew it for sure. If I just suspected, I think I'd try to do some investigating, but I wouldn't just turn a blind eye, I'd follow it up until I'd come to some conclusion.

Very well said. Too many these days are mistaking disciplinary action with abuse.

I would without a thought report someone if I suspected they were abusing a child. There are telltale signs that can give you reason for suspicion that a child is being abused. I would rather be wrong but what if I did not take the time to report a possible abuse and later something happen to that child. I would never be able to live with myself after that.

You cant just sit back and let it happen. To many children get killed that way. How many childrens lives would have been saved if someone would have reported the signs. THERE IS ALWAYS SOME KIND OF SIGN A CHILD IS GETTING ABUSED!

Being the adoptive mother of two badly abused children I have dealt with the aftermath that these monsters created , Luckily now my children are happy well adjusted children, but it did not happen without alot of work. Even if you suspect child abuse there is no harm in calling DCF or DSS they do not publicly accuse the parents they make an unanounced visit and investigate. If there is no signs or evidence of abuse it is a closed case, no harm, no foul. If there is evidence, thank god you called. My daughter lived through a lot of pain before ( god Bless him) a doctor notified the authorities.

I once called DSS on a family member, whom is heavily into drugs. I am a mandated reporter for abuse per my job description, not only do I take it seriously, I don't regret calling on this family member.

Without a doubt if I had proof or, even, if I suspected child abuse.

Of course if I had enough proof, but on the other hand if I even suspected it I would call and let someone qualified and they could check it out. There are no need in people abusing children!!!!! That is a horrible thing!!!

Depends on how much proof I had. You may think someone is being abused and it isn't really going on..this would be terrible to accuse someone falsely so I would need to be absolutely sure before I called...my niece once said her mom was going to beat her to a friend ..she wasn't serious but the friend turned my sister in and it all turned out but my niece was so upset that they thought she was serious....so things are not always as they appear or how they sound.

Aboslutly. After reading "A Child Called It" I would do anything for a child that was being abused. Such a sad book. And to know that its a true story that the boy wrote his self. God.

Yes! It is a police matter and should be investigated, I would not accuse someone unless a proper investigation were done or I had evidence, but I would sure as hell report them to be investigated.
