i would go with the the first choice, coz they were the path of my journey in life, though i can't go back but still its a way to guide my coming generation, my mistakes my knowledge, my experiences, and whats the use of makin new ones if one cannot remember the old ones coz eventually with time they would get old too

Well, if I were going to lose all of those new memories once they became old memories, why bother in the first place?

I can't choose. It's too sad to think of it that way. It does seem though, that losing your old memories isn't as bad as never making new ones. But I still can't choose...

Not certain, maybe no memories at all would be nice.

    Tough question...

    I've seen my brother

    suffer 'short term memory'

loss, but still remember his past ~

To see him not remember good things

from five minutes ago, but recall bad things

from 5 years ago, too, is very sad as well, although,

he doesn't KNOW he doesn't remember new things now ~

Confused ? Sorry ~ Guess I should have skipped this question, huh ?

I'm sorry about your brother.... I have seen my dad suffer with Alzheimer's and only have a very short memory but he can recall some things from his long term memory. It's hard to see someone you love suffer like that... I know.

Thank you Treasure ~ It is hard, indeed, to see ;p

My brothers came on through alcohol abuse, and dt's...

He drank quite a bit of beer, and his share of whiskey too ~

I was told he got hit with the flu, and was down for a few days,

and since he couldn't drink, the dt's snuck up an'hit him hard :(

He was hospitalized, then moved to a health care facility for seniors,

even though he was only 50 at the time, as he was near death from it ~

He's lost close to 60 pounds, couldn't walk, or take care of himself at all,

but now a few years later, he's back up in weight, and humour, Thank God...

Meds keep him on an even keel, but he can't live by himself, with no memory ~

I feel for you, and your father, and family, and others who suffer from Alzheimers...

It's very tragic, and sad, indeed, and I pray they find a cure for it soon... Hugs to You !

    Hugs

Neither! I wouldn't have a reason to live if I had to do that.

Without the background of who and where I've been, new memories would have little value...at my age. I want both and would rather not live than be deprived of either.

Never make new ones. I need my old memories, they are the inspiration for all of my artistic works.

i am still young and i don't really have a lot of memories but that doesn't mean i am willing to loose them its a hard choice but for me the future is more important than the past so i would prefer the ability of making new memories

At this point in my life I would way rather not be able to make new memories than lose all of the tremendous memories I already have. Traveling extensively, working at a career that I loved, having a family--all this and more has given me enough memories to sustain me if I never created another new one--but I sure plan to keep on makin' those cool memories!
