An 18-year-old high school senior recently won the lotto -- and now he'll be getting paid $1,000 a week for the rest of his life. Would you quit your job or keep working if you got a $1,000 paycheck every week?

Your not going to live large on $52K a year. Keep working. New England has a new lottery that pays the winner $1,000 a day for life. That another deal. 1000 a day for life

If the thousand was post-taxes, I wouldn't get an actual "job," per say, unless I wanted to go to school, or something, which I probably would want to. I don't require all that much, and 4k a month would pay for a modest house, and bills, for me. Where I live, the cost of living is actually quite low, so I could comfortably live off of the amount. Maybe get an apartment, maybe get a foreclosed home? Either wouldn't cost that much, then I'd just have to pay property taxes and bills after it was paid off.

I survived for a while on 1,000/month, I can certainly survive on four.

Nope, I would work, but it would something of my choosing vs. what we all take as jobs to pay the bills.

W/O work, fun wouldn't be nearly as fun. Plus in its own way, work is entertaining too.

A thousand a week would help, but it certainly isn't enough to live on.

Yes, but I'd be working something in my interests.
Besides, I would like to save up. Just in case.

I would, but it would probably be something that I did more for fun rather than work.

$1,000 a week (before taxes) is really not that much...

I don't think I could afford to live on just that, though it'd ensure that I could retire a bit earlier.

I would keep working but not put in as many hours. Couldn't keep up my lifestyle on $1000 a week after taxes. For $2000. a week I'd be out of here haha!

No, as it would be fairly easy for me to sell used manufacturing equipment part time.

$1000 a week before taxes is not a lot these days!

I've been saving for retirement since I started working after I graduated from college, my investments are good, 403b plan is good, and I am close enough to retirement, that I would be more than happy to let someone else have my job. My lifestyle is not that extravagant so I would be fine.

Besides the fact that I get bored easily. After taxes $1,000 a week comes out to less than $50,000 a year. I feel I still would have to work.
