Would you intervene if you saw a gay teen pressured into "reparative therapy" meant to change his sexual orientation?

Yes. There's nothing wrong with being gay.

This crap is actually dangerous. It doesn't "fix" anything because there is nothing to fix, but it can do great damage psychologically. No one has any right to force someone gay into this therapy, be it by physical force or by trying to talk them into it.

    You can't pray it away.
    You can't wish it away.
You can't force someone into phony therapy to make it go away.

You are born gay. There is nothing wrong with it.

There IS something wrong with people that are willing to force gay people into this kind of therapy just because they can't come to terms with the idea that there is nothing wrong with being gay. That's their issue, and perhaps they need therapy, not the person who is gay.

I was just about to mention homosexuality in other species. They can't "choose" to be gay. To Gina: despite your opinion homosexuality is natural. My theory is that nature uses homosexuality in species as a population control mechanism. Regardless of the reason some animals, including us, ( http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Are... ) are naturally prone to homosexuality. There is no "cure" because there isn't anything to cure.

You are NOT an animal, you are a human being. Give the whole nature spin a rest, Not buying it. But as I told you before, keep trying. And try looking at evidence not produced by the gay community to support their agenda.

Science class taught me that my ancestors are apes. Religion class taught me that much of genesis are mythical stories meant to explain what couldn't be explained at the time. Therefore, I know that I am not only a human being, I'm an animal. I really don't think the research I found was made by the gay community, just researchers trying to discover something about homosexuality!
  • gvc Rhi-ot. 2012/02/14 01:43:35

Really, I could almost believe YOUR ancestors were apes. Almost, however nothing could be further from the truth. If apes could turn into human beings they would still be having human babies today....and guess what, IT"S NOT HAPPENING.
    Religion class taught you NOTHING.
Just an FYI for you....the biggest part of research on homosexuality has been funded and driven by the gay community, people with an agenda, and hardly unbiased.
Why not spend some time actually learning something.
And if you don't like my comments....stop responding to my post. Educating you is taking up way to much of my time.

Animals also eat their young and eat their food while it is still alive. WE ARE NOT ANIMALS. We are human beings. But if you want to compare Animals to Humans, Nature is very cruel, and will kill off the weak in the species. The biggest pile of nonsense I have ever heard.

You want links that animals eat their young and the animals they kill while still alive? Jeez, you are one lazy person aren't you. Do the work yourself. Funny, when someone post a link to something that supports their viewpoint, those are the people that lose all credibility with me. But then I actually do my own work, and don't expect others to do it for me.

Yes, some animals do eat their young but most animals don't.

And with your statement "Funny, when someone post a link to something that supports their viewpoint, those are the people that lose all credibility with me" I have to end this. There is no way to logically debate without backing up one's point of view. It's been fun. Bye.

1 Corinthians 6:9 maybe you should actually familiarize yourself with scripture before commenting on it. Jesus does care, and did not save anyone so they could continue to live a life of sin. You are reading more into my sentence than I said, I never said and this only applies to Gays. We will let Jesus decide if I have shamed Him....that is not your call.

I've read the new testament. I was speaking in terms of where Jesus reaches out to those people mentioned. like Luke chapter 19? And Mary Magdalene, a prostitute? and Romans 1:26-28... touche. But, the bible says a lot of things.

Oh yeah, she got it. The thing about the bible is the ambiguity. The book was written by many humans over a 600 year span, not a god. There are passages that are going to refute this. Too much of the bible is simply the viewpoint of the author. Same with the Qur'an. Muslim terrorists quote parts that meet their agenda while most Muslims consider the killings forbidden. People simply choose the parts that suit them.

Unlikely I'll believe in this life. There is no real evidence of a god. The bible is somewhat factual fiction. I'll have to wait until my body quits to find out for sure.

That's exactly why the only things I truly look at are the gospels. I didn't bother explaining that to her, but that's four accounts that are very similar that show how Jesus lived, and in my opinion his way of life was good- he treated everyone well, knew everyone sinned but still accepted them, etc.
  • gvc Rhi-ot. 2012/02/14 05:22:47

The only thing you bother looking at are the gospels? Wow, you are missing a LOT. Jesus never allowed his followers to continue to live in sin, but accepted all who came to Him regardless of their past. Mary Magdalene whom you referenced in an earlier post did not continue to be a prostitute after coming to Jesus. It's become quite clear to me, that you don't know Jesus at all.

the bible was written by so many people with their own biases and there are so many times parts of the bible will contradict other parts of the bible... I know so many people who've read the bible who became atheist afterwards. I've read stories of people like Brian Welch and others who were saved by Jesus, listened to speakers, and realized what it takes for me personally to know the God I'm connecting with. I feel God blesses me everyday, so obviously I'm doing something right :)

I lost hope at about "If apes could turn into human beings they would still be having human babies today....and guess what, IT"S NOT HAPPENING." I really want to give her a science book or maybe one of the many evolution movies we watched at a catholic high school, but those people who have made them have apparently wasted their lives behind a gay hidden agenda and are making up lies, and I have been taught nothing in school. There is no hope for the future, apparently.

I don't know what catholic schools are like today but I was in catholic school from the late '50s to 1970. Some things that were mortal sins at 14 in 8th grade weren't a big deal a year later. Grade school and high school were like 2 different religions. The catholic high school was progressive for the time despite most of the teachers being Xaverian brothers. The contradictions between the 2 schools raised too many questions. What I've learned since then makes me seriously doubt the existence of a christian god or similar. I'm more inclined to believe humans made god.

    Sweet dreams.

I guarantee I'll be making twice as much as you when I become a DOCTOR considering I have A's in SCIENCE. So no, my schooling wasn't a waste. The Catholic part wasn't a waste either, considering I've gotten A's in all religion courses too :) The nun that taught me religion one year told my mom how much she loved teaching me and it was obvious I came from a good Christian background. So these comments of yours don't make me feel like anything was wasted on me. It was a scientific movie first of all. Secondly, evolution could be the answer to HOW God did what he did, instead of an alternative to God. The bible says God created the world in 6 days, but also in the bible it says a second will flash as a thousand years in God's eyes- sounds like enough time for everything evolution teaches to occur. Also, the bible was written by so many different authors. The scriptures that the Church thought were BEST were compiled into the bible. Although these authors were influenced by God, I'm sure they brought their own biases into it. We are only HUMAN- not perfect. Not god-like.

Wow you should be proud, an A in science, congratulations to you!

I base my opinion of you, on your words, because, of course, I have nothing else to base an opinion on. You do not seem to have a firm grasp of what Christianity is all about.

We are on this earth by intelligent design, we did not evolve from anything, period.

Furthermore, you can not pick and choose the parts of the Bible you want to believe and the parts you don't. It's an all or nothing proposition.

What you earn in life, means little to God. You look on the outside, but God looks on the inside. The fact that you would claim superiority over anyone, proves your heart is not in the right place. You have a weak head knowledge, but nothing in the heart.

Let me make myself clear yet again, I don't not condemn gay people, but I am aware it is their choice, they are not born that way because there is no gay gene. I think blaming biology is a weak and cowardly way to explain their behavior.

I am not gay, I have a boyfriend. I have never had the urge to do anything with a girl, and if I chose to be with a girl I definitely wouldn't feel the same thing biologically as I do for a man.
I just hate when people seem to think they're better than others based on sexuality, race, etc.
I'm very surprised you have gay friends.
You say you don't condemn gay people, yet in an earlier post you said "I do think the sins of a gay person are greater than my own" I'm pretty sure the bible says all sins are treated equal, but I guess you pick and chose to ignore that part.
