Maybe the person hasn't showered in a long time & stinks like crazy.
Maybe the person is very ill with the flue & you might catch it.
Maybe the person is perverted & makes you feel creepy.
Maybe the person is a criminal & makes you afraid.
Maybe the person has shifty eyes & you don't trust him/her.

There are loads of reasons not to hug a person... gay, straight or whatever.
It's best not to go around hugging or kissing people just to be politically correct. (I say that because I find the whole kissy kissy thing here in Germany a little creepy, myself. I don't like to kiss people I don't want to & if I don't kiss people I'm introduced to I am made to feel as if I'm rude. My mouth is meant to go where I want it, not where someone else dictates it should go. And I'm not interested in kissing strangers or rubbing cheeks with strangers or having strangers put their mouth or cheek on me. I'm not even a big fan of shaking hands... but at least I can go wash them without someone thinking I'm rude.)

I don't see what the difference is between hugging a gay person and hugging a straight person. In the end, you're just hugging a person :)
