I don't know about a patient, as it seems like it would be crossing some boundaries, but I have held close friends of the same sex through the night before for various reasons.

It depends on the circumstances. If they were distressed and needed the comfort of another person to allow them to sleep for instance I would. If it were for sexual reasons then deffinitely not.

It happened last night and no nothing sexual, he is a dying man with no family or friends, I'll admit I was nervous but when he told me I gave him one night without being afraid , I knew I did the right thing.

Bless your heart. Of course you did the right thing. That is exactly the sort of thing I meant by giving comfort and allowing them to sleep. The world needs people like you in it.

I would stay by the beside, hold hands , read , talk or just watch them sleep . Willing to cater to every beck and call, anything possible for aid and comfort .

Would I lie in a bed and embrace ? No , not at all.
