How could that be a vacation? If you're that freaked out about getting perfect pictures then you need to re-evaluate what a vacation is. Actually you should re-evaluate you're entire life because you're missing out on something!

Short of me either marrying Eva Mendes and / or becoming a billionaire I think that'd be wasteful. The photographer and their expenses would probably be more than the holiday alone.

I'm a pretty good photographer myself and besides, that would get in the way of the privacy.

I can design and decorate my vacation pictures myself. Get a camera and take it myself! I'll do it all myself. I don't need a professional photographer unless I'm modeling for something.

I would not do so, personally. However, if someone can afford the expense and wants professional photos...someone is getting work from that.

I would rather take my own picture than to tell someone which ones I want taken, Unless its a special Occasion, maybe, but I could use that money for something else.

I go on vacation to relax. I don't want to spend the entire time making sure we got the "perfect shot" as determined by a photographer.

Taking my own pictures is half the fun of being somewhere. i could care less if they are really beautiful, they enhance my memories.

If I want professional photographs done, I will hire a photographer for a session. A vacation is for relaxing-- if memories must be made, we can make them and take them ourselves instead of faking it for a beautiful picture.

Then again, I would take a professional photographer on vacation and force them to take pictures. :P I have one in the family.

I have hired myself for event photography for about ten years, but lately business has really dropped off, due I think to the fact that quality cameras are available to everybody now.

I sincerely doubt anyone could take better photos of my family on vacation or off, than I do. And I'm not trying to sound conceited, I'm just a really good photographer and know my family well enough to know how to get the best shots of them.

Would You Hire a Professional Photographer to Take Your Vacation Pictures?
by Good Morning America Posted August 10, 2012
yes, i would hire a photographer....in fact i did after my grandmother passed away, i wanted to get some special pictures with my new (2nd) wife before they tore down my grandmothers house and dock to clear the land in Florida!

That is a really good reason to hire a photographer on vacation, but I think they kind of meant like in general.

If you've ever opened up your albums and never once gasped at how beautiful that set of photos of you and your wife really is... then you have no idea what it's like and probably wouldn't do it. For those of you who do have these kinds of photos, you know full well that they're priceless... they're part of your legacy. If you have the money, go and hire a photographer to follow you to the beach at sunset.... 99% chance that you won't regret it.

So what was that like? Having some person tagging along on your vacation? I think most people here are thinking that it would be awkward and kind of a pain in the butt to always have to be "on" for the photographer.
