Would you have a problem with your young child being looked after by a male child carer?

Many women moan about the double standards that they face in society, and these women always seem to assume that they're the only sex that faces double standards. I've worked as an early childcare teacher before, and have always been surprised by the stigma that seems to be attached to males who look after children. In some people's opinion it seems that at best, they've got no right to be working in childcare, and at worst, they're some sort of a paedophile.
What happened to all this gender equality I hear so much about? If a woman can work in a largely male dominated profession, then shouldn't the opposite also be true?
So what are your thoughts? Would you have a problem if you took your kid to daycare and saw a male working there? Or do you think that a person's gender has no bearing on whether or not they're a good early childcare teacher?

I can't help it, I still get a sickening feeling in my stomach when I think of male nannies or men caring for young children. Don't get me wrong, I know that not every man is automatically a paedophile. To say that would be ridiculous, just like it is ridiculous to assume that a gay man shouldn't be able to care for young boys. However, that being said, if there happened to be a male caretaker at their daycare I would see no problem with it and would assume they're qualified and have had a background check the same as anyone else. If it were a "manny" or a man who ran a home based daycare then at this point, I don't think I would feel comfortable.
HOWEVER, if you do your homework on the people looking after your children... it shouldn't be a problem. You should never leave your children with anyone without doing a background check.
It is just as dangerous (if not more so) to trust a teacher just because they are a woman, than to not trust a teacher just because they are a man, You're right though when you say that people should do their homework when looking into childcare.
I'd need more information on the potential caregiver than that either way.
Have a nice day !
Have a good one !
