They used to make great gifts, and I can still remember when ever PC Toys R Us still had a whole wall of them for sale. Military surplus also makes great fun gifts lol

I had any number of toy guns as a kid and had a great time playing with them I don’t know how many times my brother and friends shot each other up. However none of us turned out to become mass murderers.

guns are not toys and to be taught to be respected

All my friends and I had toy guns as kids, many of them. None of us turned into killers. We had REAL guns when we were teens. I think we ALL went to gun safety classes at the "Y" (sanctioned by the NRA) I ended up an instructor a few times. The "good ol' days".... when I was proud to be a member. Today, I want nothing to do with them (The NRA, I mean).

Hell yes. When I was a kiddo I loved water pistols and cap guns.

If I hadn't already bought my grandson one for his birthday this summer, I would have.

HELL YEAH!!!! you ain't a kid until you've had a toy gun for Christmas. then you go out and play cowboys and indians, bank robber and all sorts of other games. oh, wait, I think those games aren't politically correct anymore. Thanks liberals.

Neither of our sons had any toys that could fire missiles ie spud guns, catapults etc. The reason being that when he was 16 my husband was blinded in one eye by a small piece of screwn up paper catapulted into his eye from an elastic band held over another boys thumb and finger. My husband was in hospital for several weeks and in great pain having to have morphine injections for several days.

I personally wouldnt give a gun to MY kids. But that's because i don't care for Guns in the first place. I don't see a problem with giving guns to children. Kid's don't think about the meaning of guns. They just want to play cops and robbers with their nerf guns and friends.

itl take more then a parent to stop children from becoming a statistic.

If I had kids, I'd give them swords.

I gave a Super Soaker and a package of four smaller pump action water guns to the kid down the road when I was invited to his birthday party.

opps wrong choice, mouse goofed. only an idiot gives a gun toy or not to a child, it gives that child a sense of right doing. a comfort in the toy, desensitizing the child to the rights and wrongs in the gun, causing deeper curiosity in the gun, leading it to what the world deems acceptable in movies and music. furthering the chances of the toy becoming a real gun etc etc. the ripple effect..

Choosing that one feels it safe to give a firearm to a child is a choice. bubba doug hatfield here is blatantly making issue with us who choose no.but opps a yes:P
it is a choice. and in such falls on the parents to instruct its use and safety. right and wrongs.
with clarity can see see bubba rednecks "off spring" . all armored up in there white sheets organizing a welcome party for the jone's down the street.

I had tons of toy guns as a child. My cousins and I captured my Grandmothers pasture from the Germans, Japanese, Vietnamese, Koreans, Indians and the Darned Yankees. No one was ever hurt and none of us grew up to be killers or criminals. As a matter of fact I grew up to be a Registered Nurse. You have to have involved parents who teach right and wrong.

Just cause I'm not a snobbish victorian, doesn't mean I don't know anything. Boys will be boys, and like it or not, they're GOING to play with toy guns. Their friends are going to have Nerf or Airsoft, and you really can't avoid it.

I have a new BB gun that I am giving to my son to give to his kids... I bought it for myself ... thinking I could run off the raccoons and Possums here with it... quicky learned . i have use my 12 gauge ...

But as a child, I had several guns. Then I joined the US Army and had fun with many different types of weapons.

It's just pretend play. My boys have fun with their little cowboy set.

When i was a kid I got my first .22 when i was 10 ( a single shot squirrel gun MADE for a kid). I'm sure i had toy guns from before so I must have been pretty small when i got those. It's not that kind of society anymore. All my friends had little toy guns and we ran around fightning nazis or indians or whatever it was popular to fight at the time and nobody got hurt, Things that seemed so innocent back then would throw people into a rage these days teachers and other parents and (that new family that seems to be everywhere) the Buttinskis would vent thier hostilities on y kid for just having (what he thinks of as) innocent fun and frankly it's just not worth the aggravation that would come along with it. Do i think it's wrong to give kids toy guns? of course no. But i think it would make the child a target for idiots and i just don't think it would be right to put a kid through that.
When it's time to give him a real gun I wouldn't have a problem with that he would get the same kind of guidance i did and he would be a responsible gun owner.
