- say what? 2012/07/21 22:18:33No+1Royal is just another word for leech. Living off the hard work of the subjects just because you were born to a certain family is wrong. Royalty should not be tolerated.reply
- Bingo's Faddah 2012/07/21 22:02:41UndecidedI already am. My ancestors owned countries and lived in palaces. So here I am living in the African wilderness (by choice) where my bloodline is meaningless. But it is good to be the king!

- Lord Claremorris 2012/07/21 21:34:07NoGod no. Not unless I were King of a major nation. Long ago I concluded that being a petty king would be the worst possible fate in the world. You could be the best king, who could transform his country, draining marshes, increasing productivity, increasing per capita, filling up the treasury, encouraging trade, funding art and architecture, giving allowances to cultural figures like classical musicians, literary icons, artists, playwrights, poets, and turning your little kingdom into a nice and prosperous little land. Sounds great right? Then a war happens between the Great Powers that you have no control over and next thing you know you have 100,000 French troops billeted on your lands, burning your fields, destroying your dams flooding the countryside, defeating and dispersing your army, taking all the money you've carefully gathered in your treasury, causing all your cultural figures to flee, and seizing the property and money of your subjects reducing them to poverty. In essence, undoing everything you achieved at a stroke. And there's not a damn thing you or anybody else could do about it. I'd kill myself in despair.reply

- DS in Oak Ridge NC 2012/07/21 21:26:08Undecided+2I've met British Royals, and attended parties hosted by Princess Di on behalf of a charity she supports. They have too many rules and restrictions against letting their hair down.reply
