Systems of honor do damage when they tear apart families over things that can be understood in human terms instead.

No, the only time I would EVER consider disowning my child was if I found out she was doing methamphetamine's. And I would take her back after she hopefully cleaned up.

what do you mean by dis honoring ... some childern must learn to honor their mother and father ... and wait until they are grown to separte .. this is apart of growing ... to want to get own and take care of yourself .. and make your own discessions ...

everyone makes mistakes. my little girl is my world always will be. even if she disownes me i will still be her best friend and contact her. dishonoring is a part of childhood. my mother left me when i was a kid. all kids mess up in life they just have to learn from their mistakes. a parent is supposed to be there when things like that happen not turn their back

It really is dependant. There are a huge amount of things I will tolerate, even murder under some circumstances, but any person that rapes another is revolting and I want nothing to do with.

I also feel revolted at the whole "my child" mentality. Your child is no more important than my child's life and neither is my child worth more than yours! It's a human life!

It reminds me of the whole patriotic view that you can justify killing men from another country with the thought that by doing so you saved some men from your own country. Makes no sense whatsoever.

I come from a family where things similar to disowning happen, but me personally, I would never do it. I know how much that hurts. Kids make mistakes and yeah you may not like them for what they've done, but as a parent, it's your primary responsibility to love unconditionally. Just my two cents.
