Would you consider this a true sex change?

Suppose, in the year 2100, or some other distant future date, scientists figure out a way to use micro-probes to replace the sex chromosomes of transsexuals. They also figure out how to transplant reproductive organs, made from stem cells, into the transsexual in a fully functional manner. A transwoman would be XX, and would have cycles, be able to become pregnant and give birth. A transman would be XY, have a fully functional penis and would be able to ejaculate. Suppose further, that scientists are able to erase all hints, both inside and outside, of the transsexual's birth gender, and even their voice would be indistinguishable from a different person born the transsexual's new gender. No, I have no intention of changing my sex. This question was inspired by people on sodahead saying "She's a he" when referring to Jenna Talackova's participation in Miss Universe.

True, according to what standard, and for what purpose? I am a post-operative transsexual woman. I have been on hormone therapy for over four years, which caused my body to change in terms of secondary sex characteristics. I have had electrolysis to remove my facial hair. I have a vagina, clitoris, and vulva, surgically fashioned out of my former male private parts. What I did I had to do for myself. It really doesn't matter, and I could care less whether others consider the changes in my body to have been a "true sex change". It's really not their concern. You will see people who disparage transsexuals on this site and others. They will say that we are not real women (if we are male-to-female transsexuals) or that we are not real men (in the case of female-to-male transsexuals). But all they are doing really is the age-old practice of dissing others in order to feel superior and better about themselves. It is kind of pathetic really. I find that most people are comfortable with transsexuals being ourselves. For those who aren't, there are some lyrics from a Grateful Dead song that seem appropriate: "I see you got your list out; Say your piece and get out; I guess I get the gist of it, but it's all right. Sorry that you feel that way; The only thing there is to say, Every silver lining's got a touch of grey".

We can define it how ever we want, but what matters is whether the transsexual is comfortable in his or her body and feels that the body is congruent with the gender he or she identifies with.

Your body might've changed form, but the person you were before the operation(s) is the same person you are afterwords.

However, that's nothing to cry about. All you're doing by going through the operation(s) is modifying your body to be more in line with that person you are!

But we are getting closer. Currently, both surgeries limit how much a boy or girl you are because of a few limitations for both. Until they are almost 100% the gender they want, than they aren't complete, but they are good enough.

At the end of the day a transexual's transistion is only as complete as s/he conciders it to be. Transexuality will likely still be a controversal issue even 100 years from now.

The HRT? Yeah, it's a huge relief to actually have it happen to me ^w^
Growing breasts is. . . .both amazing, infuriating, and painful, all at the same time.

You can (at least in America) get HRT (or at least T-blockers) before the age of consent, with your parent's permission and support, of course ^-^

I know that, but i don't want my parents to feel guilty about it. I have researched everything about it, so i would be ready. I will probably do it somewhere in between 18-21, depending on where i am and how long it will take to hide. It's not that i ashamed though, more like i don't want to see the reaction on their faces and guilt they will inevitably have if i revealed myself.

Stop that, you deserve to be happy, and they're eventually going to feel that way, be it tomorrow or 20 years from now. It's best for them to get it out of the way early, and prevent puberty from damaging your ability to pass. The longer they have to sort out their feelings and mourn, the better your relationship with them will be in the long run. You need to do this before it gets out of control.
It seems like they love you a lot, so getting them on your side should be pretty simple. Btw, do you know what I would have done to get T-blockers when I was even your age? Anything. Trust me, you will regret it for the rest of your life if you don't seize this opportunity.

I will think about it. It just has a lot of gravity on me how my friends and family will feel. I already know how to get them too, but my family and friends will notice and i don't know if i will be bullied at school or looked at differently by family because of it. My relationship is shaky with my family so i don't know how this would change things. But thanks for the encouragement and know i will go through this whether now or later in life.

Oh please, I was absolutely petrified by the thought of telling them for the longest time. . .I payed a heavy toll for that, though. . . . .

Anyway, a good way to gauge their thoughts on the trans subject, is to bring up a trans conversational topic. Saaay; the world's youngest transsexual, Kim Petras, or the beautiful Alicia Liu, Japanese supermodel?

Also; do NOT get these drugs off of the internet, you could very well die.

The cover is the move. What i mean is that if i said that the move was cover is because it provides a lot of tension in the background and the reaction is smaller than if there was less tension, the effects would be bigger. If i was going to go punk though, it would take time to get rid of the nerd thing i currently have. But either way they would notice, so just telling them is good enough.

    What move? =.

Lol, you can be a nerdy punk c: If anything, it prepares them, little by little. . . .I think that helped me a little bit. . .The androgyny stage is basically what I did; grow my hair out, wear baggy sweatshirts, wear what tops I want underneath, sweat like a pig, but feel great for a while until feeling stifled, then wear tighter, lower-cut tops that don't suggest anything much. Skinny jeans, etc., etc. :T

Move to Florida is what i mean by move. Huge changes apparently. Baggy shirts i already have to hide my (very) small frame. I really would have to go to the mall more often to get skinny jeans and stuff like that, but that's just a part of the process and would get me more used to the idea. Sounds great and once again, nice ideas.
  • "SennaK... calvin236 2012/12/18 01:51:46

Why are you hiding it? =.
  • calvin236 "SennaK... 2012/12/18 04:22:46
    calvin236
The reason is because i have been trying to hide it for a few years until i decided to actually do something and find out more information. Very few people have noticed my small frame, because of how most men's shirts are very broad and hide a small chest well. The underlying frame is tiny, but with chest expansion is a little bigger, but still a reasonable size. I don't know how estrogen will affect my current chest expansion, though.
  • "SennaK... calvin236 2012/12/18 09:33:53
    "SennaKoshiba"
That doesn't explain why you're hiding your frame. . .
    :T

Anyway; before puberty scars you, and you're left crying yourself to sleep every night, like me, tell people, get the necessary counseling, and get on T-blockers and HRT <=.

I get being afraid, I get not wanting to lose everyone or have relationships tainted because you feel like an abnormality. . .At least, that's what I felt like. . .Anyway, if you feel the same, then don't.

There is far too much "stink" being made over any part of the LGBTQ equation, and always has been... if everyone would simply let everyone else live their own lives in the way they feel is right for them, this world and this country would be far better off... if everyone else would mind their own damned business and stop butting their nose into everyone else's and stop trying to control everyone else with their own narrow-minded and tunnel-visioned views, this world and this country would be far better off...

Yes, of course if this were possible, it would close the issue... however, I personally believe that even without this being possibility at this time, regardless of how a person classifies themselves, then that, to me, is the gender they are... if a "man" lives "his" life as a woman, then a woman "he" is... If a man lives his life as a gay man, then gay he is... and he should be respected as such and like anyone else without being degraded and demoralized prejudiced against... the very same goes for any other part of the LGBTQ equation...

LGBTQ is an issue that should be a NON-ISSUE... should NEVER have been an issue to begin with...

I'll be honest and say that even with what we have today if they got the opperation I'd treat them as the gender they are. A transgender who went from man to woman is to me, a woman. And a transgender who went woman to man is a man.

By only problem is if I knew them before hand. It's not that I'm not supportive, its just that I'm so used to using a different pronoun and name but once I'm used to the change in pronoun (he to she or she to he) and name then all good.

Of course, it stands to reason that an adjustment period (time to get used to the idea and the pronoun change) would be needed and hopefully the person in question would understand that and be patient... and there is also going to be "slip-ups" now and then even after you've gotten used it all... I have a cousin who was born a male and has had the full surgery and all... and I still make the goof now and then and refer to "him" by his original name and as "he"... I have fully accepted from day one his gender change... I have never had an issue with it... but sometimes, with absolutely no disrespect intended, I slip up...
