It's a man's world, so the saying goes. But one company has set out to rectify the unjust disparity in liquor marketing between the sexes. Wait, what? A French company, By Necker, is selling "GIRL," a liqueur created with just the ladies in mind. It's a blend of premium vodka and Cognac flavored with lychee and raspberry. Yum!
Do women need their own specialty designer drink? By Necker certainly seems to think so. Their website claims that "A few inventive chefs bring in exciting new culinary experience. A few bold vineyard owners operate a revolution in the wine industry. Yet in the spirits department ... a desperate void. Most of the products have been around for half a century, inflame palate, head and stomach lining."
But GIRL (and their other designer drinks) provide "smooth and gentle alcoholic beverages with sensual aromas, low sugar content, as an apertif or for nightlife, in distinctly contemporary packaging, for authentic, self-respecting seekers of new emotion."
Wow, they pack a lot into what looks like a giant jug of Pepto Bismol! What do you think? Elaborate marketing gimmick or is By Necker really filling a "desperate void" in the ladies booze department?
