Jehnyhal~ Hope Not Hate~the... 2010/05/12 22:36:55Good+15We have them. No competition that way. Kids don't feel inadequate if their parents can't/won't cater to whatever is fashionable. It was evident things like that took place when we had no-uniform days.

I have, and I can tell you that there was nothing different about the kids' behavior than at the school I'd attended before (it was actually worse, but that's probably a coincidence), and I didn't feel 'businesslike' at all. Bullying was not eliminated either.
I don't mean to imply that I'm the only one with the right answer or anything, I just don't like it when people try to speak for me.
but clothes are also a big part in it too.
but i wontl.
As far as leveling the field, well...A big part of the reason some kids get made fun of for their attire is that they can't afford designer brands. Forcing them to wear uniforms is just another cost that their parents could likely do without, considering they still need a regular wardrobe for life outside of school, and they would need several complete uniforms. At least when they shop at used clothing stores they can put food on the table.
Schools not a style show, it's an educational place. Uniforms would be great, and the students could do the style stuff when they get out of the school and go home.
If you are putting kids in uniforms to reduce the envy over clothes it doesn't work the rich kids just accessorize with more gold.
But still, I would personally hate to be told what to wear.
1. No guess work about what the kids are going to wear
2. Reduces envy over fashions and accessories
3. Actually lowers the clothing bill substantially
4. Aids in providing an easier learning environment - less distractions
5 Provides a sense of Community
6. Provides better security because school officials know that students belong on campus
