We have them. No competition that way. Kids don't feel inadequate if their parents can't/won't cater to whatever is fashionable. It was evident things like that took place when we had no-uniform days.

Oh, there would be those who would stand out as a student from a family with less means than others, because such students might only have one uniform and have to wear that uniform for more than one day between washings. They would be the first to develop the yellow stains under the arms on those white shirts as well as being the butt of ridicule for having clothes which smell more pungent because of body odor.

Good idea, though some people don't look good in yellow and the shirt will still stink from not being washed before its next use. LOL

That's funny and apropos as most teens hate the thought of wearing a uniform and think the idea stinks to high heaven. LOL

That's true if one has what they need to wash anything. They can even wash by hand if they can have it dry by the next day and have some soap to accomplish this task, the problem is that they may only start doing something like that themselves once they have been through a day of ridicule.

I don't really have a problem with uniforms and, as I said before, I wore one myself in grade school. The one thing I would ask is that if they go to uniforms in schools that they allow the girls to wear pants if they want to. I can remember many winter mornings lined up outside in the cold waiting to be let into the building as well as standing in the cold during fire drills with the wind blowing up my skirt and my knees and shins turning blue from the cold. Yes, I remember that well and it makes me shiver just to think about those days. LOL

...that is debatable , plenty of countries use uniforms and simply order parents to pay for them with out a care for the cost...America on the other hand has far to many idiots at the top who do things like pay 9 billion dollars this year to give FREE high speed Internet to the “poor” / ironic in a year when they “ordered” the people (citizens only*) to buy health insurance . So I am sure that we will fund government agencies to cover the cost no mater how low it is ...we don't believe in “personal responsibility” in this country.
*the Medicaid program will continue to provide medical services for “non citizens” .

I think that's great that the government buy everything 2 the students , but our problem that there's no much money to do that in our country
Hope that we'll be as u in this thing

Well the good and bad of all that is obvious based on the example set by Greece last week / they have great benefits for their people (had) but wound up bankrupt by giving away far to much ...they even had to CUT their national health care program completely because they have less than nothing to pay for it with RE: to give health care+early retirement to all their people they now spend more than 127%of their GDP ...what that means is after they take 100% of every dollar you and your boss make they still need another 27% to pay for the government benefits , it only works as long as another nation is rich enough to loan (give) you the extra money ...if you are tracking the US GDP-spending you will find that this year we are spending 50% of our GDP in the budget + another 40% on interest for old loans and off-budget spending ...I only say this because 2/3 of all nations in the world base more than ¾ of their entire economy on FREE $$$ given to them by the USA ...dark times ahead for every one , if you think we are going to magically recover and have even more to give any time soon you are in for a sad awakening very soon...

You can express yourself out of school. It would be orderly. But bullying may not stop. Bullies will find another reason to bug you. Perhaps they bought their uniform at a higher priced place? Or they may say theirs is of better quality. Uniforms are sold for poor and rich classes.

My kids have attended schools with uniforms and schools without uniforms, personally i like the uniforms but thats because it makes my shopping much easier and it doesnt take no where near the time plus it was a lot cheaper then regular school clothes.

At first my kids hated it but after they got use to it they liked it, they didnt love it but they liked it. They said it saved them time in the mornings and also made them feel safer at school.

I think it's a good thing, because A LOT of people judge you on what clothes you wear and not how you actually act!
HOWEVER, in public schools i think it's too expensive!

As much as I love the way I dress, I admit that school uniforms are a good idea. They level the playing fields. At my school students who can’t afford the clothes that are “in style” are looked down upon, and it infuriates me. I’d gladly give up my wardrobe so money won’t be a factor people are judged on.

And school is for learning; not for showing everyone how good you look in short-shorts. It’s hard to concentrate when the boys around you won’t shut up about how “fine Ashley’s legs look”. It’s disrespectful and annoying. I don’t care if people want to show their bodies, but they need to do it someplace where my education won’t be disrupted by the lustful rants of teenagers.
If everyone has to wear sensible clothing, that won’t be such a problem.
So yes, I really want school uniforms.
I’m fine with wearing my corsets and heels on the weekends.

People express themselves and their individuality through clothing. Giving everyone the same thing to wear would be horrible.

Only if the school is lenient about it.
I believe that uniforms are actually a good idea, as long as the students can spice them up a tiny bit.
It gets too boring to just wear the exact same outfit every day.
    Pins, bracelets, necklaces, etc.
It would definitely save time in the mornings. Students would no longer have to waste their time picking out outfits if they're really obsessive about it.
Most 'bullying' would be eliminated. [Of course, it's impossible to eliminate it all.]

I'm pretty sure that my opinion on this matter counts, and shocks most people, seeing as I'm a student myself.
