I prefer the truth. I prefer reason, evidence, arguments experience and demand sufficient explanatory power and scope..

Atheists prefer lies and propaganda that affirm their psychological hangups. They are generally intellectually lazy. None can defend Atheism as an intellectual position. They lack good reasoning skills.

The first Noble Truth is that life is difficult. Most people want the simple answers reinforced by self-deceptions. Confirmation of those self-deceptions are livelihoods for political pundits ($44,000,000 annually for Limbaugh) and preachers (too many to list). The "truth that sets you free" doesn't come so easily.

Well I have over 5 years of college and am very self studied, have been preaching since 1964 and haven't received $1000 yet so don't forget preachers like me.

Our spiritual crisis outweighs all others and preachers are not all made from the same mold. I'm a philosophic Christian who wishes you well.

I can’t get into the head of other “people” for no one can experience what the other is feeling or the perception of their reality. The best we could do is only assume. I can only experience my reality, and what is true to me. In saying that and to answer this question, I am realistic; now the other “people” know.

Ultimately Truth is an experience, but elaborate on " now the other “people” know". Know what?

I rather be “realistic” than “deceived.” I’m just answering the question relative to myself. I cannot answer this question for the “most people,” nor could anyone else.

Of course we CAN answer according to what we perceive; whether or not we're accurate is another matter. I agree with your take on realism. It's the advantage Buddhism has over other religions. "If there is any religion that would cope with modern scientific needs it would be Buddhism." Albert Einstein

Aren’t we shooting off onto a differ topic, “Buddhism?” Stay focus my Friend, lets not get deceived and be realistic to the question at hand.

You brought up "realistic"; was I not to address that? Religions are often the sources of rationalizations for self-deceit, or is that too far off topic as well?
  • Mike rand 2012/07/21 22:39:07

Realistically, absolutely not; as long, as you are not talking about my religion.

I haven't the vaguest notion of what your religion is. I'm a philosophic Christian and happy to say so.

people like to have sugar coated lyes told to them, so when they find out the trurth, they have a reason to be angery and start a fight with someone. it's a sickness of society teachings which starts with the world leader in every country.

want change try telling the truth people will both hate you and dispise you for it but in the end they will be thankful for it even if they are not big enough to say sorry, i now know you were right.

"Outcast". His Truth wasn't popular in his home territory. (I recommend Webster's Collegiate Dictionary as the best.)

Since man's knowledge is based on the semantics of our words, I look up many words to understand the nuances and more clearly understand the meanings. I offered you a synonym for "pariah"; it's first meaning relates to Indian history.

I do understand where you are coming truly I do sometimes when there is many post to reply to or catch up on buying out the time to do such things is not always easy. But what is mor important is the civilized adult way in which we are able to share deeper insights in to the finer details within life and for that I do thank you

“Beliefs come first, explanations for beliefs follow. The brain is a belief engine. … Once our brains connect the dots of our world into meaningful patterns of belief, we look for and find confirming evidence to support them and employ a host of cognitive biases that insure we are always right.” Michael Shermer
