Would it be proper grammar to say "I legit need to sleep"?

It doesn't sound correct to me but I'm not sure and a lot of people are saying things like that.

    No, I don't think so. Legit = legitimate. I use the word "legit" sometimes but in a context where it sounds okay. You know, like "yeah, it's totes legit"

    No. The correct way to say it would be, "I legitimately need to sleep" or "I have a legitimate need for sleep."
