Would a wireless signal booster help?

When I check the Wireless Network Status the speed is 14 Mbps in my bedroom but when I carry my laptop to the living room the speed is 48 Mbps, so would a Wireless Signal Booster help?

WIFI signals goes down more than up so if possible it would be best to move it up stairs...... or get a repeater where it gets a good signal which would then extend the signal, only problems about repeaters though is that it can cause errors in the data packets if there is too much interference or not in a good signal area

another thing that can help if your laptop can use 802.11n is to get a router that can transmit that signal since it goes further and has a higher speed..... or what I would recommend is stringing a cat-5e ethernet wire from the router to where you use you laptop in your room

Wireless Signal Boosters can help but it usually costs more
