If I rode my bike around 3 In the morning and I live in the country, all gravel roads, would it be likely a coyote or mountain lion would attack me? Don't ask y I'm asking. It's personal. But would I be safe if I rode on gravel roads at that time of night/morning or what should I do if I absolutely have to go at that time (ex: take a gun/knife, carry light(s)...ect.)?

I wouldn't take that chance if those or other dangerous wild animals are in your area, even in broad daylight. Find a safe place to ride and ride during the day. You are essentially defenseless at night...reply -

I have read about mountain lions attacking joggers. Seriously. You should definitely be careful, and probably not wear earphones. If you do have some means of protection, ie, gun and for sure have a light on your bike. Be careful!!reply -

Make sure the bike is well lit and makes enough noise so you don't surprise an animal. If you were to surprise a big cat with kittens near by it would be bad and you wouldn't have time to use any kind of weapon. They are very effective killing machines. But if they hear you coming from a distance they will get out of the way.reply -
Alright. Do u know of anything I could use to make enough noise for them to notice me from a ways off?reply - say what? LauraAn... 2012/05/20 02:54:29
A bell or two maybe.Experiment a little.Just make sure it doesn't sound like natural prey.It doesn't have to be real loud. Most wild animals hear much better than we do.When I lived in grizzly country I sang and talked to myself when I went walking in the woods. I only saw the tail end of bears as they ran away.reply -
