    As a young girl when my father left .I dont remember much about him but i do remember that i thought that i was the reason for him leaving us.I contacted him when i was 15 and he told me that he didnt want to see me...that hurt me sooo much and that pain lasted for a long time.I still send him birthday and fathers day cards even though i never get any replies...oh well,his loss.

    Thank you Sister Jean..that pain ended many years ago and i hope that someday he will come around...i doubt it but..you never know.

    Your answer stunned me. I know someone very close to me that feels that way a lot of the time, he is bi polar and a drug addict (sober at the moment). Have you ever had these kind of problems? What else causes that kind of pain and I believe it is the worst because being witness to it has been the worst pain in my life.
    Don't tell me these are the words to a song or something.

    but the counsler said right at the begining,, one of you will get and stay sober.
    I looked around and told the others,, looks like you all are in for a rough ride, because I am the one... and here is 30 years later... one day at a time...

    No such thing as counselors today and that is just one problem, albeit a big one. I guess if you are a millionaire you could keeping sending a addict to one of those $30,000 on month treatment centers. Generally the treatment centers in Texas are called Prison.

    well , we still have them in Pa. in fact the half way house I was at is still up and running..
    sounds like your treatment centers in Texas is the tough love method ....

    Lots and lots of good christians who control the money and you must pretend to be one of them to get any kind of help. And yes the probably consider it tough love, tough if you aren't a christian. Although there is a guy trying to keep a half way house for those coming out but the city fathers keep putting up road blocks. I really don't know what is going on with that right now.
    Tough love is often a death penalty.

    well, the path the addict is on is going in the death direction already, only thing different is the active addict is going 100 MPH .

    I would think one of the hardest thing to do, ( other than bury ) is to watch, be part of a loved one's addiction.. that must be pure hell...

    I had rotator cuff surgery. When the numbness wore off I felt at if someone was branding me with a red hot poker.

    Torn intercostal muscle (ribcage). Most excruciating pain I've ever felt (worse than any of the 24 broken bones I've had in my life, including compound fractures)

    About 8 hours after having my gall bladder removed, my stomach erupted in the most god-awful pain imaginable. And nursey-nurse took her good old time getting painkillers to me (same hospital my wife works in, but she was not yet on staff there).

    It took her 90 minutes to respond...that was with my wife begging her to do something. Sorry you went through that. Sister. No one should have to.

    I had exploratory surgery when I was 5 months pregnant. The doctor was a drunk (only found out afterward) and after the surgery, he didn't let the gases used during the surgery out of my incision. The gas trying to get out was far worse than the pains of childbirth.
