WORKPLACE: you work monday thru friday...... is it all right to have an alcoholic beverage on your lunch break amongst co-workers on a friday, as long as you dont get, "schnockered"?

In America, this is considered taboo. In Europe, a beer on a lunch break is quite acceptable. Working overseas does have its advantages!

I wouldnt have a problem with it, I see nothing wrong with a alcoholic beverage during lunch as long as it doesn't interfere with the job.

My work friends and I used to do that and not just on Friday. We always went back to work and worked as hard as we did before lunch. There's nothing wrong with it except it now doesn't fit into the BS PC world we live in, too damn bad.

I don't drink either one of them, but if I were their Supervisor, then I would much rather see them drinking alcohol than drinking that stinking-ass putrid coffee, on the job.

We allow it. In fact we try and keep a bottle of red wine in each office and ask that each person drink a glass a day.

While many may think it is okay, I think it could result in the loss of your job, especially if your company has zero tolerance for drugs and/or alcohol in the workplace. As a job steward, I saw this happen way too many times. It was usually a result of someone ratting out their "friends" to management.

It is better to be safe than sorry. Wait till Happy Hour on Friday to have a beer and if you have more than you should, please don't drive----call someone to come to get you.
