    Might I also remind you:

"Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Funny, never once mentioned giving money, did it. You might want to take some time and understand the Bible instead of just quoting it.

Read it again. "Naked, and ye clothed me." 90% of the homeless you were to "take in" do not wear your size. How are you going to clothe someone with clothes that "dont fit?" You have to give them money to "buy some." [...]

Where in there did it say....give money? It said to give food and water...and on sand on. I offer food, I offer gas, I offer water, I get turned down most of the time. This is the main reason I turn to charities, most random people on the street don't want help.

My original point stands, you can help the poor without directly giving money to panhandlers.

Since you blocked me....take them to buy clothes! How hard is that? Donate to a church clothing drive! Donate to goodwill!

Why do you block people for simply debating without being mean? In fact, you are the only one who did the name calling. I can't believe how intolerant you are for a person who is preaching to me and everyone else.

Where is the "Yes, but never 600 dollars!"option, It's crazy to give that much specially when they are probably going to spend it on drugs.

It's funny when people say that: People who say that often uses it to "Sleep good at night" as it were, to overlook those that they could help.

What is funny, is when at the end of rush hour you see the "poor woman" standing on the freeway exit begging all day walk over to her BMW two blocks away and drive home.

I don't trust statistics. I trust that there are those that will never fit the statistic that they are labeled with.

Statistics are subject to the subjective views/perceptions of those that views them, or skewed by the sampling itself.

The homeless people that I meet are in need of money, they wear tethered/dirty clothing, are unable to clean themselves, fits the body language, and some even seen on a daily basis and gone to see where they live at. Being dictated by supposed data that can never predict the future of one's actions is foolish.

I could probably use teenage pregnancy documentation to justify why they should have their children taken away as well, or to justify some other negative philosophy.

    Take care,

I rather give a Homeless a job, or a means of supporting themselves, not just money. If Woody Harrison wanted to truly help her, he should of helped her get back on her feet, develop a means of supporting herself: He has the means and the resources to accomplish that.

    However, what do I know?

    Take care,

Have to add that once a man approached me in the grocery store and asked to trade food stamps for gas money. He was apologetic and although I said no, I gave him $7 in cash. Was amazed when found me loading groceries and handed me the gas receipt for 2 gallons of gas. I told him he didn't have to - but he was so sincerely grateful. That is one I'll never forget. Hope if it's me someday, someone else will assist.

I'm glad that worked out. In my city that is one of the fave cons. I have offered to go buy gas and they back down....offered to bring them back 5 gallons in a container....still turned down. I have had a few encounters in a grocery store that are better, but man downtown or on the college campus just has a bunch of people that are trying to scam people.

Here it just doesn't seem right most of the time. Now if I am working with someone and I think they could need it...yeah it can feel right then. But if I gave a few bucks to every person that asked here I would be broke. At grocery stores when someone runs out of cash...there are lots of scenarios that are good, just not panhandlers most of the time.

I'm not saying that I freely give cash away to anyone. I say no more than I say yes. The question is do you give cash to the homeless - and sometimes I do.

I classify my giving as more "people in need" not all of them are homeless and I'm sure many aren't. Most of the time I go through charities, I have had a few events that happened on the spot so to speak, but they are rare. I like giving of my time best, but lately I haven't been able to do that. I have to work it back into my schedule soon. It gives good perspective and hopefully helps the individual.
