Women with rabbit obsession is busted. Should animal cruelty be taken more seriously?

Miriam Sakewitz was arrested for the second time after stuffing a dozen rabbits in a hotel room. Miriam's first arrest in 2007 occurred when law enforcement found 250 rabbits in disgusting living conditions. After a plea deal, Miriam Skewitz only punishment was a 5 year restriction from having pets. Should animal cruelty be taken more seriously?

    I think animal cruelty should be taken very seriously and people should be punished because i mean animals are like the next best thing. I know i can talk to my dog and he wont say a thing and i know that he understands even though he cant talk :P
