Wow. Glad the three victims were not killed and doesn't sound like they were hurt too badly.

I remember when I was little, I got to pet a cougar. She was such a sweet heart, and never stopped purring. She would roll onto her back, and want her belly, and ears to be rubbed. I will never forget that. But, I also never forgot that it was a wild animal. Not a house cat. You have to be cautious whenever you pet any animal you're unfamiliar with, especially a wild one.

I saw this and they were saying we dont know why the cheetahs attacked her. I think its proably because THEY ARE CHEETAHS not housecats to just play with. They are freaking wild animals people.

Anyone stupid enough to step into a WILD animal's lair is dumb beyond belief. What part of the word WILD do they not understand? The cheetahs exercised some restraint. They could have ripped her to shreds and just left bone.

And those animals are not here to be our entertainment slaves. It absolutely abhors me to see this kind of thing going on with natures creatures of wonder. They're here to balance the eco-system and nothing else.

    Pet at your OWN risk!

Honestly from the article I can guess that the kids were running around. (The boy was apparently fleeing) and that is a HUGE no-no when it comes to cheetahs. You run-THEY chase. Running in a cheetah enclosure is the best way to bring out their instincts and i just plain stupid. And it also says that the woman stopped the running boy...So I can only assume SHE was running as well...What did they expect?

Before anyone enters these types of enclosures they are given a form to READ and sign, this form includes safety precautions. They are then briefed on the do's and don'ts before they enter. If you don't follow what they tell you then things like this are bound to happen.

They might want to re-think a petting zoo with wild animals in it. Hope everyone is all right.

Okay, I may sound cold buuuuut... What freaking idiot kneels over the top of a wild animal? Besides that, what fool carries a camera and thinks they are cool getting in with the cheetahs? No respect for the wild. They got less than they deserved.

If you are AFRAID you are MUCH more likely to be hurt. People who have any fear of unusual animals should NOT go any where near them .The bad press ruins it for those of us who can deal with them correctly.

It's more than that. Even those who "deal with them" correctly have the right measure of respect and know what these animals can do. I've been up close and personal with quite a few wild animals and would never be so disrespectful.

This is why you don't treat wild cheetahs like tamed kitty cats... Sigh.

Let's just go into a den of cheetahs, aggravate them in some form they may not even know, and not expect them to mull your whole family...

    Take care,

I don't think visitors should ever be let near cheetahs.
