Living in New York City is very expensive. But that doesn't mean that a woman should take advantage of guys looking for love on Match.com to score free meals. However, 23-year-old "Minerva McGonagall" did just that, Business Insider reports.

According to the website, Minerva's $45,000 salary was not enough and she needed at least an extra $500 a month and sometimes $1,000 to pay her credit card bills and afford her $1,475 a month apartment. Her solution? Match.com.

“Before I barely had enough money to pay for food,” McGonagall told Business Insider. “After using Match.com I found I wasn’t going into debt anymore.” McGonagall started eating out five nights a week on "dates." Her only rule: No more than five dates with the same guy. “I mean, a guy buys me three drinks at $15 a pop and that right there made up for my Match fee,” said McGonagall.
But eventually, this dating-for-dinner scheme became tiring. “It was exhausting," said Minerva, who now has a boyfriend. "I needed my sleep and I was done playing the game." We kind of feel sorry for her (soon-to-be-broke) boyfriend. Do you think it's fair to use well-intentioned daters for free meals? Or is that totally out of line?

Assassin~ Badass Buzz Guru 2011/12/01 18:44:40Awful+16Awful, unfortunately there is little to be done about it. A date comes with no guarantees. You can not regulate dating. It is sad that she uses people to do this, but sooner or later, she will get played, just as she played them. Karma is a bitch. It is women like her that make decent women get crapped on. Booooo.

but its almost con-artist like for a lot less cash.
Time to budget better maybe?
What means were used to provide this "good time"? Providing scintillating conversation for all those evenings sounds like a lot of work. She must have enjoyed the dates a little or it would have been easier to get a slice of pizza which would be less money than the amortized costs of the clothes, makeup, etc.
One must assume there is something more going on here than is described in the question.
I wonder if she has a little black book to keep the (wo)men apart; with stars and flags depending on the shindig they're dining.
~_~? Also why didn't she do the whole she-bang and include breakfast and brunch/lunch.
Odd.
I mean the running belief with most of my female friends is that if the date goes south than at least they got a decent meal out of it.
Really I believe the whole 'dinner and first date' thing should go to the chopping block.
I was tricked into an unfortunate marriage, but I stuck it out for the kids. The joke is that eventually she wanted to work for herself. Shortly after that I became unable to work, and now SHE is supporting ME.
