This is why I state FAIR ..
"Based on company records – including GPS data from a company van that had been assigned to her – Ms. Scott was actually at a local media outlet conducting personal business, on company time, using company equipment as transportation."
When you are on company time .. clocked into the job ..
when you are using Company resources .. (company Van)
you should be WORKING ..
doing the job ..
(Obviously .. she was NOT ILL at all .. don't know how being in a MEDIA place is somehow 'ill' or 'sick')
NOT out and about IGNORING your work and engaging in PERSONAL campaigns or activities .. on Work Time, clocked in and using WORK Resources
This was completely fair indeed ..
(I know many companies which have this policy .. and it is fairly applied to all levels of their employment/management structure)

The woman who organized an awareness campaign that came under fire for featuring two airmen breastfeeding while in uniform has been fired from her civilian job as an X-ray technician, her lawyer tells Yahoo! Shine.
Crystal Scott, an Army veteran, military spouse, and the program director of the Mom2Mom breastfeeding awareness group at Fairchild Air Force Base, was terminated by Schryver Medical, a provider of X-rays, EKGs, ultrasounds, and other medical digital imaging services, on June 1.
"She was fired due to her passion about the Mom2Mom breastfeeding campaign and speaking out on gender equality and women's rights," her lawyer, Patricia (Pat) K. Buchanan, told Yahoo! Shine in an interview on Friday.
"This kind of took us by surprise," Schryver Medical's president, Jay Schryver, told Yahoo! Shine on the phone on Friday. He issued a formal statement soon after.
"Crystal Scott was terminated by the company on June 1st for various legitimate employment-related reasons," he wrote in the statement. "Amongst other things, on the day prior to her termination, Ms. Scott had clocked in to the company’s timekeeping system and had been assigned time-sensitive tasks that were wholly ignored. Thereafter, Ms. Scott ignored the company’s repeated attempts to contact her to inquire as to her whereabouts and status of her job assignments. When the company finally did get a hold of Ms. Scott, she informed them that she was sick and would not be working. Based on company records – including GPS data from a company van that had been assigned to her – Ms. Scott was actually at a local media outlet conducting personal business, on company time, using company equipment as transportation."

Absolutely a righteous termination. If you're lookin' for sympathy, consult "Webster's", I don't have any....
