Growing your fingernails is one thing (although it can get pretty nasty after, say, half an inch), but growing your toenails four inches is about as bizarre -- and unsightly -- as it gets. Ayanna, 54, has spent the last five years doing just that, she reveals on TLC's "My Strange Addiction," despite the fact that it is limiting her mobility and putting her health in danger.

"They're just sexy and sassy. I am considered a long-nailed goddess," Ayanna tells The Daily Mail. But it gets worse: Ayanna was recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, meaning she needs to exercise, which is nearly impossible with her long toenails. And despite friends' and family members' pleas, she won't take out the trimmer. "They are 50 percent of who I am. I will absolutely not cut them," she says, calling her nails her "babies."
In addition to, well, looking ridiculous, Ayanna is forced to walk on her heels and climb stairs sideways. She can't sleep on her back or wear socks or any shoes except flip-flops, unless she cuts holes in her tennis shoes. Sounds like a pretty uncomfortable way to live, right? What do you think of Ayanna's toenails?

She refused to cut her nails.
She needs to get her priorities in order.
Who really cares?
I mean, were she contributing a great thing to society or the world with her existence, I guess I might feel differently. But she's just laying on a sofa taking up space... can't even play with the kids cuz she's dangerous to them.
So, what's the big deal?
Sounds cold?
eh.
So is she.... she cares more about her stupid, fugly nails than her family... so let her live & die the way she chooses.
Plus, she'll get all the best care money can buy from SSI once she gets that diabetes diagnosis... & we'll be footing the bill.
With any luck, she'll start smoking.
You know we're paying for it, especially now that she was diagnosed with diabetes 2 -SSI
Think about it America, WE PAY HER TO STAY HOME AND GROW THEM!!!!
And look at her, the nails do not stop her from eating!
I bet she has a cell phone too. All the things her food stamp money pays for.
Arn't we so wonderful.
It would be like the government knowingly giving support to a drug addict.
Drug addiction is real. I don't have nearly as much issue with keeping addicts in groceries & shelter as I do lazy, fat, slobs who play the system (& us).
This is not addiction. This is a way not to work.
True addiction is something completely different.
But this woman doesn't want to get off her fat, lazy butt, so she is using the word "addiction" to allow her to remain immobile while continuing to eat herself into diabetes... which is the more secure form of attaining government money.
It's all a scam, a game, a joke... just like her finger & toenails... just like her.
She's got the system worked out while those of us with some self-respect & dignity carry our tired behinds to work everyday, whether we should or not... because we simply can't imagine not being self-supporting.
So be it.
I hope all the bleeding-heart, liberal voters out there enjoy the fact that we're all paying for her & all those like her in the US.
I guess it's better than her being desperate & holding someone at gunpoint... but not much better.
