Woman Abandons 2 Year Old Child At Wal-Mart... What should we do with the boy?

A woman in Indiana left her 2 and half year old son at a local Wal-Mart with a backpack containing a bottle, diapers and a note. The note said that her and the boy had come over from Guatemala a year ago, and she can no longer afford to take care of him. The boy doesn't speak English, no one knows the boys name, and the presumed mother is no where to be found.

Send him back to Guatemala, and let their government handle it.
Let him stay here, and give him to children's services.

    There are waiting lists of couples wanting to adopt children, this precious child should be given the chance of being placed with a loving family. Surely Social Services can find someone somewhere who can speak his language and at least find out what his name is.

    I don't know... I would call the Police, and let them handle it...

    I do know that NJ is a state that will allow a parent to "abandon" their child at the local police dept, no questions asked... obviously, in an effort to reduce the amount of unnecessary child deaths (garbage cans, dumpsters, etc.) that have been occurring over the last few years.... I don't even know the last time i saw a story about a child being found dead in the trash....


    I do believe that they will try to find and prosecute parents who abandon their children anywhere else though...

    This is so sad. She should have dropped him off at the hospital atleast! My god! HOpefully he will find a loving family here in America. With this kind of news coverage Im sure he will! :-)

    Could not be that hard to search immigration records and find an immigrant that had a 1 1/2 year old son.

    If I had been the person to have found this little boy who had been abandoned by his mother, and I was fine financially myself, I would adopt the little boy or at least provide a home for him until a better one came a long.

    The Home Land Insecurity official have to take the illegal alien (boy) to the nearest Guatemalan Embasy and let them handle the problem.
