Valentine's Day is only six days away -- which means many of us have some shopping to do.
According to a study by the National Retail Foundation, men will spend more than twice as much on Valentine's Day gifts as women, about $158.71. Women will spend about $75.79, YourTango.com reports.
So what are we spending our money on? About 17 percent of lovers will buy jewelry for their significant other this year. Other likely gifts include dining out, flowers, clothing and candy.
But here's where it gets a little warped. The "average" guy is spending $159 to please his sweetie, but only 52 percent of people remember to buy a card. Isn't this the most important part? Frankly, we don't care if our guy buys us a big gift -- especially if he just shelled out for Christmas less than two months ago -- but if he forgets the card (with a hand-written message inside), he's in trouble.
Our idea of the perfect Valentine's Day is dinner out, flowers and a card. Anything else is is just the icing on the chocolate cake. How about you? Do you think $159 is the right amount to spend? Or is Valentine's Day just a Hallmark holiday that intelligent people avoid altogether?
I wont spend that much. Whether you spend a lot or a little in the end really doesnt mean a thing, an expensive gift given without thought is as worthless as a penny. A cheap gift chosen with thought and given with love is worth more then the worlds largest diamond.
It's not too much to spend on your valentine, but on my budget I won't be spending anywhere near that amount. Lol, this is probably gonna be more like it:
and I would personally crown anyone who spent that much on a gift for me -- that's far too much for any gift. I might make a special supper or get a card but $75.79 -- no way. (My Christmas budget is $10 or LESS for SIX people.)
...I don't even have that much money. And knowing how stingy both my boyfriend and I are, I doubt we would even think about spending more than twenty. I am one of those chicks who does not need lavish gifts from their boyfriend, thank you. Sweet and simple will do.
I'm a lucky man! Nothing subtle about my bride. Before Christmass I get lots of verbal hints about what she might like, and for her birthday just a plain "This is what I would like". 23 years and she's never had reason to complain.
Will i? No
But would i? Hell Yes!
If i had the money and a worthy Valentine i'd spend more, even if i am a girl, i would want to make him as happy as i could.
hey.. ugotta do wat u gotta do to plz ppl.. especially loved ones.. who r havin a bad day possibly.. or even a stranger..hey nohtin lights up a persons face then to spoil them with one simple carin gift...
Showing love and consideration is a year long thing. Women we do not need expensive gold and diamond jewerly........well the grubby ones need it, but the women of worth don't.....what we need is a man who carries out the trash, kills the spiders, walks on the outside of the sidewalk, refuses to let us know how to use power tools, cries when he sees his newborn child, and expects you to pamper his dog......Take care of this kinda man, mother him, baby him, sex him up......be good to him....and he will be good to you!!
And "different strokes for different folks!"
But would i? Hell Yes!
If i had the money and a worthy Valentine i'd spend more, even if i am a girl, i would want to make him as happy as i could.
