I guess they wanted elementary school children to get hooked on twinkies because my class toured a Hostess factory and the smell of the Wonder Bread and chocolate cupcakes were awesome. We were also given a gift bag before we left the factory!

An American icon. I remember a friend in the early 1970's who had fought in Vietnam telling me about the loss of his friend during the war. As the story went his friend was blasted & dying he said "you know what, all I wanted since i got here wasis a F'ing Twinkie and now I'm not gonna get it". Ever since he told me about the poor guy I see Twinkies as American as apple pie. I also say "WAY TO GO HOSTESS"!!! Screw the greedy unions! UNIONS EPITOMIZE GREED.

I'm not the Twinkie type; but a lot of people lost their jobs prior to the holidays. The Union really helped these people. just like the IAM helped United & American..., & the United Steel Workers Union looking out for their people. Really Sad

In this case AngelArs is correct, it is not the union's fault.
Rayburn, CEO of Hostess, was paid a salary of up to $2,550,000 per year. Hostess had awarded the company's top four executives raises of between 75 and 80 percent, even though the company had already hired restructuring lawyers. Over the last 30 years, Hostess CEO pay grew 127 times faster than worker pay.

The company was at fault here, and the only good thing the company ever did to help this country was to go out of business and stop putting their unhealthy crap on stores shelves.

I like twinkies and ding-dongs but haven't had any in years. I'm not even sure if Hostess makes any of their products here in Canada. From what I understand most of the production is done by other companies here. I imagine they will be selling the rights to the products when they liquidate so the Canadian companies can purchase the name if they want here.

My dad's pigs will though. Their diet has mainly consisted of hostess EVERYTHING because we got the expired stuff for free. IDK what they'll eat now :(

Natures way, wonderbread, and dolly Madison will be missed. The union was offered 25% of company and turned it down. Letting down 18500 workers. So sad. Union greed. They forgot who they worked for and turned down the deal of the decade.
