Will the Amanda Knox Story Make a Good Lifetime Movie?

It was inevitable, wasn't it?

The story of Amanda Knox, the pretty U.S. exchange student convicted by an Italian trial jury of murdering her roommate, is going to be a Lifetime movie.

"Heroes" star Hayden Panettiere is lined up to play "Foxy Knoxy," the wholesome-looking girl next door gone bad, Deadline.com reports.

Seattle native Knox, who was 20 at the time, and her Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were arrested in November 2007. They were accused of killing Knox's roommate, 21-year-old Meredith Kercher, who was found slain at the couple's cottage after what prosecutors described as a night of violence, sex and drugs.

The charges were that Knox, Sollecito and Rudy Guede sexually assaulted Kercher and Knox slashed her throat with a knife.

Prosecutors described Knox as a "coiled spring" filled with vengeance because her "prissy roommate" had insulted her grooming and sexual habits.

Knox was sentenced last December to 26 years in prison. She insists she is innocent and has appealed.

But while the Knox story might make for a good at-home movie night for you (microwave popcorn, anyone?) Meredith's father, John Kercher, isn't so pleased. He reportedly told the Daily Mirror, "I don't like the idea of a film based on Meredith's death. Seeing it graphically portrayed on the big screen is a horrible thought."

I think her case is still under review. If I were her lawyers I wouldn't want it made. Unfortunately, the Italians got it wrong, she did not do this.

Not only for respect of the victim's father... I still have seriously doubts Knox even killed Meredith. I don't think any film should be released until the truth is uncovered :/

The fathers grief alone should be enough to keep it from being made into a movie. After all, wasn't the story of Forest Gump kept from being published until after Gump himself had passed away, since his son didn't want him being ridiculed and made fun of for it ?? I think it should apply here too, regardless of whether or not Knox is guilty. Bottom line is the man lost his daughter and that's the reality.

I'm sure there are script writers that have already wrote the script and are perhaps in rewrites, casting the actors and stuff like that. Surprised its not out already. :(

There will probably be more than one Amanda Knox movie.

But, Lifetime? The Women In Peril Movie channel? Could be two movies. One from the killer's p.o.v. and one from the victim's perspective.

For one how would they portray her? Guilty or innocent? I've followed her story and I strongly believe she is innocent. It would be a shame if Lifetime portrayed her as guilty. She does not deserve to be there. If she went through the American courts they would have found her innocent. Poor girl.

I'll go with the father on this one. Who would want to see the last few months of their daughter's life depicted on film for posterity when it will include the last few hours of, what must have been, a horrific death. It will leave out the joy and heartache the young woman experienced and the joy she gave to her loved ones. I'm sure it won't be talking about the victim's dreams and expectations for her life. It will more than likely concentrate on the murderers and that only gives them unwarranted celebrity. Their names should be forgotten and they should only become numbers in the prison system, that way their lives would truly end upon conviction near the time of their victim's untimely demise. Let psychiatrists, psychologists, behaviorists, government profilers, etc. interview them while maintaining the murderers anonymity.

I know I'm sick and tired of movies which seems to idolize criminals while making the victims of their crimes victims of the movie industry, too. We all know who Bonnie & Clyde are and many can probably remember who portrayed them in the movies, but can anyone remember the names of their victims? Same goes for "Scarface" and the more recent, "Public Enemies." I just don't think we should ever take our eyes off the victims or forget their names b...

Wouldn't it be refreshing to see a movie about the victim. Make her the star and make the murderers forgetful in such a film. Show the true horror of murder and mayhem.

Okay, I've tried to edit this twice because I did not repeat anything but when I post that is how it is coming up. Weird.

Instead of making a lifetime movie about her, they should feature a realtime segment about her in the "lockup-Raw" segments they run on MSNBC every friday.

Another Liberal Leftest Hypocrite Party way of thinking here. Poor girl was convinced to kill someone. The victim murder, poor girl. poor poor girl... She should have put to death in the manner as she killed. Let her get sexually molested and throat cut. Let he feel how it is to feel your own blood filling her lungs. Let he feel how it was to be molested time and time again. Do I feel bad for her, not even close.

    1) All European countries have abolished the death penalty.
    2) Torture was abolished more than 200 years ago.

JUDICIAL torture was abolished more than 200 years ago. I guess some people would like to bring back drawing and quartering, breaking criminals on the wheel etc.

No, she did not. And no, the boyfriend did not admit to it. They both even tried to help the police 'frame' each other by admitting under scrutiny, that yes, he or she, COULD have left the apartment while the other was asleep. The killer is Rudy Hermann Guede.
