Public schools will definately be around because some can't afford private ones. although one thing is that the whole US system of education needs to be refomed and public schools might get smaller..

We just keep putting more money into a horrible destructive,amoral,anti-American system. We need to use tax money put the schools into the priviate sector. Look at christian schools they cost half the amout of a public school with a better education.

Yes public schools will last and flourish. Again, the government will stay the course in the dumbing down of America. What needs to happen is that the 'private' schools need to be abolished, and only then will the government as ran by the rich decide to support the educating of the children of the poor.

We spend 15,000 dollars per student in PUBLIC schools Per student. Why are they not the smartest kids? Most private schools are only 6,000 per student. What is wrong with this picture?

I thought public schools (at least at the high school level) provide 80% or 90% of today's educational services for families and children in this country. This poll seems to be weird.

It may be a less popular option in the future, but it won't disappear completely. I do agree, however, that the quality of said public schools will decease significantly.

I hope not. This union monopoly has got to go,Our schools do not
teach why this country became great. They want to teach how we stoled
this land and then go on to college and have this confirmed.

Unless the do a lot of changing and revamping. Probably go by the wayside. Teachers have too much on the plates{meetings, in-services, extra activities} Not enough teaching.

What else is left if it doesn't. Send em all to private schools? Who will pay for that? Plus there simply not enough of them. I am really troubled by the way Public Schools have been pillaged without some constructive way to remedy what ails them.

I agree, bad admisistrators --most bad teachers get promoted to adminstrators to get them out of the classrooms --they should fire bad teachers instead of promoting them.

Public schools will last as long as there is a federal government and a tax system. There are too many vested interests in the system to change it, let alone end it.

I think it will be around for a bit, but its definately going down the tubes. And sorry to say it, but its the school systems fault. The teachers have become less and less efficient and I DONT BLAME THEM ONE BIT!!! Their treated like dirt, paid less that truck drivers, and have one of the most stressfull jobs on the planet. If we would give a little more money and pay attention to their needs, I think public education would advance greatly! "Cant have happy customers without a happy staff"

I wish it would go by the wayside. But I don't think that will happen in the next 10 years. Neither my daughter or granddaughter went to public schools. I would rather vote NO!!!, but there are still too many parents that don't gave a darn about their children's education.

Because the teachers union is the most powerful lobby in congress,
until we get a student's union to fight back and get the education for
our kids that they deserve, we will have to pay extra or work hard to
get our kids into the schools they deserve.
